Only thing I used them for is cutting a bolt down, I like using it over a power tool. But it rarely gets used because of the sawzall, plasma, grinders and the rest of them

Thats a pretty darn good price for something that says SO but I think I would still buy the Kleins after abusing the stuffing out of them on a daily basis.

What's the word on Starrett blades?

I think the Starret blades aren't to bad. The last shop I worked at used Starret blades and I used a Hack saw there alot without any problems. Personally I would buy the Lennox blades becuase last time I checked they were made in USA and the Starrets werent.

Thanks. I bought a Starett pack recently (haven't used them yet). The local Sears was short on variety, not a US blade to be found. I'll order a set of Lenox next time.

Just a heads up on Lenox hacksaw blades, I was looking at some today at a hardware store and all the Lenox blades were Made In India. The Vermont American blades were still Made In USA. I also noticed that Bosch (Switzerland) makes some jigsaw blades for Vermont American.

Harry Epstein has Bahco stuff on clearance. I'm getting ready to get an order together. They have the blades (some branded as S-O), and I believe they've got the saws too. Leave some for me if you order!

2 months after my post, here it is. I bought a used Stanley at the local flea market for $5. Dirty, but there is nothing wrong with it.

I told the guy that when you buy a new hacksaw it comes with a blade. So he told me to pick one out from the pile of stuff, and that is the yellow blade.

Then from another guy I bought a package of 10 Starrett blades for $10.

Stanley hacksaw frame made in France, and Starrett blades made in Brazil. What a combination.

Cuts through a beer can like butter....

Bosch Tools and Vermont American are one in the same. Many accessories are made under both brand names. Both are subsidiaries of the Global Bosch empire.

I've got a Buck Brothers like this one. I got it as a gift about 12 years ago and its been the best hacksaw I've ever had. Mine is slightly different than the one below but its similar. No plastice except for the hand grip...

Last Sunday at the flea market I picked up the Sears/Bahco version. Look almost like new. Think it even has the original blade.

Not sure if Sears still has it. The shelf at my local Sears has been empty for months.

Sears does not have the Bahco / Craftsman saw anymore. Got my Bahco 325 from "Motion Industries" yesterday: $33 + tax.

Mine's a yellow Starrett. Made in America. Just recently 'upgraded' it with 32T Starrett blades and I'm doing much better on thin materials now.

Made in Brazil now. :(

Looks sturdy and ok for the equivalent of $24 that I paid for it,

spring loaded and blade can be tensioned up to 28,000 psi.

These days (2010) very few Lenox blades are made outside the US. Things have changed a bit since 2008 (for the better).
