Who makes em?

I've got sets of matco non-slip sockets in metric and SAE. They kinda look like spline drive, but the sockets are only 6 point instead of 12. So far, they only offer these in shallow and 3/8 drive only. These things have easily replaced any other socket I may have previously used. I'm curious as hell to find out if anyone offers this style socket in: deep, 1/4" drive, 1/2" drive, etc. I'd love to know. Thanks for any info

matco does make em. They have them in deep, and in 1/4" drive shallow and deep metric. Still like to find something similar in 1/2", though.

I agree with the Mac precision torque sockets. These are nice although made in asia somewhere. I got some corroded away exhaust nuts and bolts off with these things so far it's like one of those things if you have them and they save you a couple times they almost really pay for themselves and you can obviously use them for regular duty too. It looks like the line is expanding a little too

Also to note they do 85% rounded IIRC the Matco claims 70

Koken surface drive sockets look like similar design.

Available in metric deep in 1/2" drive.

http://www.kokenusa.com/products/model/774

Metric shallow in 1/2" drive.

Metric deep in 3/8" drive.

http://www.kokenusa.com/products/model/719

Metric shallow in 3/8" drive.

http://www.kokenusa.com/products/model/704

Metric shallow in 1/4" drive.

http://www.kokenusa.com/products/model/285

Koken doesn't appear to offer the Surface Drive sockets in 1/4" deep.

It is impact sockets you want?

Metrinch six point sockets are a similar idea but with a different geometry. Only made in sizes that are meant for both metric and SAE. No 1/4" impact. The Metrinch sockets are made in 1/2" impact and 1/2" Deep Wall impact.

http://www.metrinch.tv/index.php/sockets/deep-wall-sockets/1-2-drive-deep-wall-impact.html

In Europe the Metrinch sockets also appear to be available in 3/8" impact and deep impact sizes.

When I see that style of socket I first think of Ko-ken's surface drive:

There's also FPC from Japan with their Parabola system (first produced in 1990).

Here is a comparison with a Ko-ken surface drive:

There's also Metrinch system made by Cendai in Taiwan:

As for who produces MAC's Precision Torque....Re-dai in Taiwan does.
Sold as a Straight brand in Japan and they called it the Xi-on drive:

Xi-on socket claims to work on 80% rounded fasteners:

This independent test also claimed the Xi-on socket was able to turn the most rounded bolt head. (worst was the spline drive)

I don't much care about the rounded off bolt removal, so much as multi-fastener removal ability. I can keep one rail of sockets in my work cart. Just saves space when I'm at work, and running

SWEET ********! Matco had the 1/4" shallows on the truck today! Now I just have to wait a week to get the deeps and the 1/2" dudes. I think I'm going to go ahead and order a set of the Koken in 1/4" deep SAE, and give em a whirl
