goto the home page on the mac website and look at the monthly flyer. hybrid multimeter as in hybrid cars. a regular multimeter is not ideal for hybrid systems. plus this meter has onboard tests for some hybrid systems

It looks like it just includes AC and DC current clamps. You prob can't buy both of those for that money from another industrial brand.

No I think the question is when are you going to use ALL of those features. A lot of those I would guess your almost never gonna use and some other ones you can do with a regular meter without needing the 'feature'

Plus I didn't say you could find another brand cheaper somewhere else, I said you probably COULDNT find it cheaper somewhere else in a different brand. A 87V fluke meter plus those clamps would run you close to a grand.

thats like saying when will you need an oscilloscope because you'll only really NEED to have it once in a while. the features to price point are very reasonable for this multimeter compare it to snap ons best theirs has less accessories less features and costs more. and the fluke 88v which is a great meter i have the 87 and it is a good meter i want a meter for hybrid tests tho and this mac meter can do that. i wouldnt be looking at it if i didnt think the features it had would be used right? for 500$ this meter is expensive but it is the most worthy of the price that ive seen with all of the accesories and features of the meter. all i want to know is who makes it

Most likely the lowest bidder Mac approved of when they sent out the specs to all their Taiwanese and Chinese suppliers for a new meter they wanted.

a.k.a. a no name brand.

I think its rebadged or built to spec by UEi (USA company/made in Korea). I have a cheaper UEi/and a DL49 current clamp supplied through work and they are pretty decent meters if I,m honest. The update speed of the screen is nothing special (on mine) but its well featured and tough. I think Korean stuff is OK but I prefer my Fluke.

They are made in Korea better yet they are reasonably priced so it looks like a viable option for anyone. Not saying Mac does not cheap out sometimes but not on these units. Hell all my Korean shoes from the 90's are still holding up, Lol.

Look up TPI 194 II if you're looking for a do it all meter less then mac prices. They make some snap on meters, or used to anyways. I have one and haven't even begun to touch all the features.

Its made by Fine Instruments Corp. a.k.a. Finest.
UEI also sources meters from FIC but im not sure if they own the company, or subcontract.
FIC meters are relabeled for many brands.
UEI is part of The Kane Group.
Klein Tools acquired a 50% equity position in UEi Test Instruments.
https://www.kleintools.com/content/klein-tools-inc-and-uei-test-instruments-partner-together
The Klein MM5000/6000, are said to be Made in USA with global components.
As seen in the pictures, some of those components seem to be FIC sourced.
Hope that answers your question without too much head-scratching.

I don't know who makes Mac multimeter and depending might not be accurate to compare mine to the current ones. However I will say I bought the mac equivalent to the Fluke 88 over 15 years ago and it has worked flawlessly doing it's job. I want to say I caught it on a deal so the price was pretty reasonable.

Back about 20 years ago they were made by Fluke. I have a 73III that has the Mac name printed on the upper right front cover, opposite corner of where it says Fluke.
