Stanley black and decker owns and makes most Mac tools.

They have plants all over the world including Taiwan.

They make a lot of tools there, the same basic tool may be branded and sold (with minor variations) as a craftsman V series, Mac, Facom, some proto, or USAG, all SBD brands

I do like it but honestly I was expecting a lot less backdrag/resistance. Ko-ken spoiled me.
Is there a way to disassemble it and use some heavier oil or lighter grease ?
Ohhhhh, you may have gotten the newer version.
Does yours look like the one on Macs website? Its still made in Taiwan, but the original mechanism was lighter and smoother to operate. It also had a screw and could be disassembled.
Cornwell did the same thing. I have both versions of the 1/4 drive and the old is noticeably more user friendly and serviceable. I believe Carlyle also followed suit. May have been a manufacturing change.
