Bump. I'll ask one more time before I hold my breath and order. My rechargable went dead on my last night in the middle of some work (grrrr).

No clue what these folks are saying but my impression is that they have a substitute that is a better light. Candlepower forums may have the answer.

Ahhh, perfect!! I like the form factor of this one much more than the snap on (can droop it down into the engine bay in confined spaces). Thank you so much! I ordered it from tooltopia. I'll update with my impressions once it arrives.

The uview light showed up last night.

Just a quick mini-review...very bright, almost to a fault. My old LED rechargable was a 30 LED Bayco, nothing special, sells for ~$30 in Lowes. With that light, I tried to avoid shining it in my eyes, but every so often I would pick it up, spin it in my hand and get a flash of light in the eyes. No big deal. This uview light produces at least 2x's the light and disperses it over a much broader area. Meaning it doesn't need to be pointed at your eyes, just in that general direction and you're seeing stars. Okay, so how does it do when you've got it pointed in the right direction? Well, that broad dispersion pattern is exactly as advertised! With other LED bar lights I'm constantly rotating them because they are very directional. The uview behaves much more like a flourescent in comparison. Color temp seems to be around 3500K or so, while all my other LED's have been around 5000-6000K. This is just me eyeballing it, but suffice it to say it's a warmer color temp than I'm used to seeing from LED's, but not to the level of an incandescent and not something that really matters to me much. Build quality is generally very good, if not a bit clunky. Still, it's going to fit into narrower spaces than the Snap On bar LED by virtue of being a stick design. The rubber molding is grippy and semi-soft. Shouldn't be an issue holding onto this with oily or sweaty hands. There seems to be enough cushion on each end to absorb the impact from a fall, but I'm not going to test it. Additionally each end is molded with an octagonal shape to prevent unwanted rolling. The on/off switch is recessed into the end of the light along with the charging plug. It looks like it came right out of a radio shack parts bin, not sure if that's good or bad, but since it's recessed, it shouldn't be harmed by a fall. The hook on the other end swivels 360 degrees without any detents (some like them some don't, with the broad viewing angle on this light, I think it couldn't hurt). The plastic covering the light source is flexible plastic sheeting. It's thick enough to be knocked around but it's not going to tolerate getting stepped on very well. Inside the box is a parts breakdown, leading one to believe you could order a replacement battery when needed (among other things). COO is Canada for those that care. Price was about $75 from tooltopia. not too many places stock this and I've always had great experiences with tooltopia, so it was a no-brainer. It's a little pricey, but not out of line imho, considering what it brings to the table. Value is a subjective thing though...

BTW, a big thank you to jeep450 for turning me onto this light!
