Who makes Snap-on's Multimeters?

For that much you can get a Fluke 1xx that'll be just as good or better. I am really pro Snap-On, but when it comes to test equipment I don't mess around.

The COO is Republic of Korea. I'm assuming South Korea. You guys have any idea who makes them for Snap-on ?
My guess would have been EZ Digital (formerly LG Precision), but they don't list any handheld DMMs on their website anymore.

It could also be Samsung, they make the some of the chips used in them.

I agree Fluke makes an excellent meter. I've got a Fluke 88 that I've had for years and the thing about it is it's still being sold and serviced. You can buy a Fluke meter and add to your kit over time. I've got an amp clamp and thermal probe that I purchased after I got the meter. You can't go wrong with Fluke.

Snap-On multimeters are made by TPI, Test Products International. In the past few years or so Snap-On multimeters have changed so there may be another manufacturer involved.
I learned the hard way and bought a Mac DVOM...only lasted 6 years and maybe used twice a week.Always kept it in the case provided and treated it like a carton of eggs.
I will only buy Fluke products now and they have some impressive products and .........they are made in the USA !!!!!!

. Made in china like most junk these days. I here they are still very good.

I had the 'everything snap on' sickness for a while, thank god I'm over it now.
My blue point multimeter also failed within a few years of occasional use. Crappy at best. I know we're talking about a different meter but nevertheless! Now I'm very selective about buying snap on, only pay the premium for in-house manufactured items that warrant the premium price. For rebrands I go directly to the source, or to a dedicated specialist brand.

The 117 is part of the lower prices no frills "Compact" line which includes the 113, 115, 116 and 117 model numbers which are made in china. Fluke still has a factory right here in Everett, Wa.

Snap-on machinist tools are not all that good of quality. Fluke is the best money can buy and they are owned by the Danaher company.
I would never buy any Snap-on air tools, machine tools or testers From Snap-on
They cost many times more than the best brands in the world. They in no way are worth the money or the name. I served a tool and die apprentiship with GM and desided that was not for me so I went into construction. I can make the mold that makes your tools but that is way in the past. Danaher makes some of the worlds best dental equipment. The company is huge.
I like my snap-on wrenches, sockets, ratchets etc and they make some very good quality tools but when it comes to a lot of things they sell and put thier name on they are not worth the money. I use my SK tools most of the time and my truck boxes have all Craftsman becaue they are cheap and they are easy to replace. If they get lost it is no big deal. The funny thing is that they work great for construction. I used them for 35 years to rebuld trucks, tractors and farm machinery. I look at Snap-on tools like designer cloths. They are not wroth the price.

For those interested, I am working on a review of the TPI 194II multimeter. These are made by Summit and are imported from Korea. Part 1 shows some of the features of the meter and how it compares with a few other meters of a similar price. I also show what's inside.

I have a 6 year old Made in USA Fluke 87-V which replaced a 25 year old Beckman HD110 and could be anyone's guess where it's made in now.
Summit makes the meters for TPI. I have a friend who owned a Blue-Point meter that ended up being made by Summit as well.
