We are moving into a new house, and a lot of excess clothing, etc. needs to get stored on shelves in the garage / attic. Who makes the best storage bins? I figure there has to be something out there thats better then the rubber made stuff.

I haven't bought any in years but for semi-clear my Iris tubs have held up really well and they had a size that worked well for what I needed.

I first saw standard sized Iris tubs at Office Depot or some similar store and then went online and ordered a larger size sight unseen. They've been great.

Of course manufacturers change so it's possible the ones out today are not as good.

If you don't mind solid colored I think there are a lot more choices available.

I buy the Home Depot ones when they have a sale, try to stay with the same size for ease of stacking. Not sure I would call them the best but hard to go wrong for the price.

Agree pelican makes some excellent storage devices but they come at a premium price. For storing my expensive DSLR cameras and lens yeah, to keep clothing in maybe not the best bang for buck.

To offer a different point of view sometimes the best one is the cheapest to replace one...

I've never had a problem with cheapest i can find as long as they are handled properly. I use them for all manner of storage from the shop to keeping clothes i will never wear again.

Plastic totes biggest enemy in my house seems to be kids. They step on, sit on, god only knows what.... But the ones under my staircase and in my garage are just fine and some are 10+ years old.

Heck i even abuse some of the shop ones. They hold scrap lumber, garden hoses and equip, 1 is even bolted to my atv rack so i can haul more misc items.54e8c815980246e80fded572767be6c0.jpg

I use those Commander ones with the black and yellow lids. I can also leave them outside without much side effects, other totes will get brittle and start to split.

I use sterilite bins with a built in gasket. They are clear and have multiple clips to hold the lid.

I think I've been buying those from Target for my detailing supplies/towels/etc, and they are nice bins and the ability to see inside is HUGE.

Costco has some fairly heavy duty 27 gallon box's that are black with a yellow lid. They are like 8 bucks each or so. I have a half dozen of them & so far they are all excellent. 2 of them side by side fit perfectly in the roof rack on my forester so I started out with 2 & then went back for more so I can have stuff pre-packed (a pair for all the soft & small parts of my 1 man pontoon boat, another pair of camping gear & an empty pair for whatever else) and ready to go in the same containers its stored in.

Lowes & home depot have boxes that appear to be about the same with different stickers on them as well, but they are cheapest at costco from what I have seen.
