Who makes the best what?

Okay so when putting together a toolbox it can hard to choose whats good in each different area. Some companies make good stuff in one area and **** in others, so this thread is started for you to say what you think the best is!

So ill start

Combination Wrenches-
Best Imperial- Snap on
Best Metric- Stahlwille

Best Adjustable Wrenches-
Sidchrome
or Bahco (which is same as snap on)

Side cutters/pliers
Knipex

Best boxes
There is a local australian mob DSM made an hour away from where i live. Not the most fluid drawers but the TOUGHEST boxes ever.

So thats just my opinion to start off with, love to hear what you think.

(I'd also like to hear what stuff that isnt snap on is great)

New or vintage? I don't buy many new tools, but older vintage is great stuff.

Diamond adjustables and pliers are great.
Klien side cutters are great.
Malco or Enderes screwdrivers are the best.
Wright makes some of the best wrenches, still USA.

Of course, if you could find some NOS Utica or Bonneys, you would be ahead of the game, IMHO.

Not yet but they likely will be. Nothing lasts for very long in stuffmarts until they start cutting corners. Keep your eyes out for the word Germany being omitted on the handles/heads of Knipex tools. I'm guessing they'll be quiet about the move and not proudly display China, or Vietnam, Taiwan, Turkey or whatever on the next generation of post stuffmart tools like you currently see Germany on them.

Sometimes not? Whats left in stuffmarts still made where it should be? Weber sold out can't get a USA made BBQ at any stuffmart. Good ole German Bessey clamps are all chinese in Lowes, Milwaukee tools made in Milwaukee anymore? the list goes on and on and on and on. Given enough time everything goes down the crapper after entering the big box. Any MFG that gives a hoot about their long term brand images stays far away from the big boxes. Its a trap, once you enter the junk box your lost and will never recover.

Where is the best place to buy What? I've never seen What on Amazon or at Lowes. We don't have a Home Depot here. Does anyone know if they sell What? Can you still get USA made What or is it all made overseas now?

Thomas and betts make some of the best strippers, knipex for sidecutters, most ingersol air tools are tough as nails.... Its hard to claim just one brand the "best" of that category

i bought a set of irega adj's back in the 70's when i still worked in a machine shop, they get some occasional use, but i was still surprised they are as tight as new a couple weeks ago.

I think cooper tool group- make nicholson and crecent tools are very cheap in australia but still have good reputation because made in australia and I think in the usa cooper tools has factories too
