Guys,
I have a question (again) & wanted to ask it to all of you.

I have a few generators in my shop after a power outage that lasted 5 days. Yes, I loaned out my generator to a buddy that was 20 miles away that lost power & had a newborn.
Since then, I have been hoarding generators....


I have a Powermate 6250 with Briggs & Stratton 2004
Powermate PM3500 w/Kawasaki motor 1988
Husky 2800 w/ Subaru motor 2008
Maxa Powemate 2250 w/ Tecumseh 5hp 1994


I was recently given a generator ( Smarter Tools STGP3500) from a buddy that I gave a snowblower & Lawnmower to.

He said that won it in a raffle & has no use for it. He lives in a condo with generator back up.

Has anyone seen these in action?
Anyone know who makes these motors?
Any info where I can get parts for it?

I call it a disposable generator. But, it will work in-case a neighbor or a friend needs one.

I was told that YAMAHA actually makes the motor and the electric board is generic china junk.


I will be picking up the unit from his house on Sunday......


Any info would be great...

Usually, these have chinese clone engines of proven designs from Honda or Briggs.

Many generators and other power products have chinese "PowerEase" engines, they are Honda clones.

That's what I have in my generator, it runs very well. Will it last 20 years ? Probably not. Will it work for emergency use ? Most certainly as long as I maintain it properly.
