Stanley Black and Decker does not own Sears-Roebuck. Sears-Roebuck doesn't actually exist now. It is Sears Holding. SBD may own stock in Sears but are not the majority share holder. Does King-Seeley still exist? Armstrong is no longer around. Neither is Plumb. Plumb become Proto. I think KD is gone also.

Apex provides hand tools to Home Depot - notably the ratchets, sockets and wrenches relabeled under their Husky brand.

Does Apex also supply Kobalt to Lowes?

I believe so. Previously Danaher provided tools to Lowes, before they were bought out by Apex, and they took over. Apex continued to supply tools to suppliers, as far as I know

SBD does own Craftsman now... I think that was what they were talking about

Thanks for the effort but this list is filled with incorrect, outdated, and some duplicate information.

So organize it... and list a valid correct up to date list...

Not trying to be a jerk, seems like OP was trying to do a helpful thing. My comment was more of a fair warning to other people.

So just to help a little;

Incorrect: SBD does not own Newell-Rubbermaid

Outdated: Newell-Rubbermaid hasn’t existed for a few years. It’s now Newell Brands. Newell Brands sold their tools division (Lenox, Irwin) to Stanley, Black & Decker in 2016.

Duplicate: OP has Lenox listed as being owned by two different companies.

I believe you are thinking of Plomb. Plumb is still making hammers under the Apex umbrella.

Robert Bosch sold Skil recently.

Allen is discontinued, along with KD and Armstrong.

I keep hearing that Allen is discontinued but in fact they are still being made and sold by Apex. They may not be made in the US any more.

You are correct, my mistake. Plomb is in that list also.
Honestly brands and ownership seems to change so much that who owns what and who makes what or who has what made for them is hard to keep up with.

What about PL▽MB? :p

Trying to keep up with all of this is mind-numbing. Just a week or two ago I was looking for some Matco pliers and found some Protos that looked just like them. First thought was the Protos might be the OEM for the Matcos, totally forgetting SBD owns both until I was reminded.

That's a really good article there.

Not quite. Danaher and Cooper group (German) pooled most of their tool brands to form Apex, a separate corporation that they co owned. At a later point. Danaher and Cooper sold Apex to Bain Capital.

It is more complicated. Sears still has the right to source and sell whatever they want in Sears or at Sears.com. under the Craftsman name. This is for a fixed number of years that Sears will undoubtedly not survive. Outside of Sears, SB&D owns the the name and any Craftsman that is not bought in Sears is from them.

Dear Ganymedes oh sure some of the other members are "TOOL FREAKS"; but I much prefer to be addressed as "TOOL CONNOISSEUR".

Don't you think that sounds better and it could go with a nice bottle of your French wine from your home Country.

That list is full of errors. Right after the Stanley B&D merger, they sold off Delta to a Taiwanese firm, Chang Type International, who moved the Delta factory from Tenn. to SouthCarolina. I am sure a lot of it is imported. They are not doing well. Many QC and parts issues.

Bosch sold Skil to Chevron Ltd.

Newell Brands sold Lennox to SB&D. Newell owns many other brands and has not been bought by SB&D.
