I just got a large metric set with ratchet, and was pretty impressed with the ratchet, what about the sockets, I am a huge Snap-on fan but thought the easier to read GP's would be really nice, and they are. I should expect them to hold up pretty well?

I have the short, deep, and deep swivel sets in both metric and sae, in 3/8" drive. I love them and will be ordering some more in the future.

I have five Duo-Socket sets, but they've not seen much use on impact wrenches yet so I can't speak to their long-term durability there. I like them very much so far, time will tell how they hold up.

Grey Pneumatic makes regular impact sockets too, which are very durable and great quality for the price. Since I have some, I don't really picture myself using the Duo-Sockets for high-torque impact use. But they're supposedly made for dual-duty, no harm in trying. At least there's no chrome to flake off and I would not expect one to shatter.

You'll want to keep something on the Duo-Socket sockets, ratchets and extensions to prevent rust. I cleaned off the slime they shipped with and applied EEZOX. I prefer it over WD40 or oil or gear lube, since it's not slippery when dry.

I have 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" in short and deep, metric and standard. I've only broken one socket and haven't had a single problem with them. luckily there is a shop near me that warranties grey pneumatic so i'm set.

Guys, keep in mind that the OP was talking about the Duo-Sockets, not the regular Grey Pneumatic impact sockets. There's a big difference in wall thickness.

I have a 1/4 Duo socket set that i absolutely love. They are used on a daily basis in the shop and have not had a single problem with them so far. Only downside is they blend in really well when you drop them!

I have this large 1/4" impact set; they work well but one irritating thing, they tend to fly off my 1/4" impact/ratchet! This is aggravating; this maybe just a 1/4" thing but drives me nuts nonetheless; 1/4" air tools do not have lock rings but have ball detents; which tend to not hold the sockets securely! I do not have any other 1/4" impact sockets from other brands to compare them to; however... the completeness of the set is pretty amazing; really does have pretty much anything you would ever need! :)

You just had to post, didn't you? I've been considering picking up a 1/4 impact, but didn't have a socket set in mind!

You ****! :lol_hitti:beer:

SORRY! BUT I maybe saving you from allot of cussing and after the sale aggravation! I think it has to do with the design of the indentation; that is made for the ball detent to go into... IDK it is made well! I am going down to the shop.... I will take a pic and try to post up and that way you can see what I mean! :) Sorry to be a killjoy but that is what this site is all about.... "shaking out" the GOOD from the BAD; it is only "real life usage" that can do this! BLEAH! I was frustrated after I started using these; I wish it wasn't this way... BUT they are! GRRRRRRRR! :(
I picked up this set @ the flea market for $60; it is missing a couple of pieces, I guess @ that price I shouldn't whine... maybe I should email or contact grey about it; maybe they have changed the design, since the production of my set... i don't know at this point. These are the types of things that imports can really disappoint you on; its the little details that really set the "pro good" tools from the less well designed inferior ones... the bigger sizes no one has any complaints on! UGH! (grits teeth!) :(

Oh, no. I was just messing around. The detent system is no big deal. I'm simply saying that I was spit balling getting a 1/4 impact, and you go and post a sweet complete socket... You **** because you're trying to spend my money!
