Who uses removable caulk? What for?

Hey guys and gals,

I'm curious to hear about less obvious uses of removable caulks, other then using it for temporarily sealing windows.

1. Would it be good for sealing around a shower faucet scutcheon?
2. Sealing between toilet perimeter and floor?
3. Do you have a favorite brand?

I have only used it to do things like seal reusable form work corners or other things that I want easy to remove but need short term liquid tight joints

I wouldn't expect it to take the place of where permanent caulks are normally used or to use in wet environments

To facilitate removal in case of future service.

I don't have experience with removable caulks, I assumed they seal well until they're peeled off. Wrong?

Silicone is removable. When you need to pull your toilet or shower body in a decade, the last thing you want to find is that the removable caulking you used didn't seal as well as absolutely possible.

You aren't talking about anything that needs regular service so there is no benefit to a product that is more easily removed

Seams that these removable caulks are only meant to seal drafty old window frames until it warms up next year.

Why would you expect any other uses, obvious or not?

Feels like on of those "hack" videos where it just exposed that the contractor or homeowner is just a hack, using the wrong material in the wrong way

Clever use of a product in a way that wasn't foreseen by the inventor is ingenuity. Some alternative uses will be ill advised, but some potential use cases such as sealing reusable forms as listed by a poster above are definitely not hack work.

Edit to add: I wouldn't use it for sealing around faucets, toilets or showers, but am interested to hear of other unconventional uses for the product.
