I'm looking for a whole house dehumidifier but I don't have central AC or forced hot air. I need this for a basement workshop and separate office.

Do they make standalone units I can install with ducting to each area?

Thanks

Yep, a central AC unit. They are natural dehumidifiers and will provide you with some comfort in the summer!

They aren't meant to be fully ducted themselves though. Typically they duct right into the main supply return, or have a very short duct run typically in the same room.

Yes, this is what I have found... I'm sure such a thing exists but I don't know how to describe it well enough to get google to cooperate.

What you need is (2) room dehumidifiers.

The concept of a 'whole house' dehumidifier assumes there is already duct work in place to provide dehumidification to the whole house.

That said, what dbonne said is correct. Whole house dehumidifiers are basically just small air conditioners where both the evaporator and condenser coil in the same air stream.
