I've FINALLY got my lathe positioned in the garage, just inside the door so if I need to machine something through the headstock I can do so with the door open.

It's a Taiwanese 12x36 HAFCO AL-960B which I've had since 2006, though it's had very little use especially in the last year. I'm hoping now that I'm fully setup I'll be able to make better use of it.

I got this South Bend Fourteen about a year ago. Disassembled and stripped all the paint and repainted. 20200503_204818.jpg

Docsmachines.
Your Springfield lathe is wonderful. Admire your work.
I had a USSR Profila 1K62. Around 3000 kg. swing 490, length 1600. MK 5 in tailstock, MK6 in spindle.
Best lathe I ever used. The feed gearb0x was awork of art.
From 0,07 mm/t to 170 mm/t. Nice if you want to machine a 35 mm drillbit!!
And totally accurate. Fully metric, 11 kW motor, could do anything!
Miss it, had to sell it when we moved to a flat. I am 75 and scaling down.
WHICH ***** BIG TIME!

Those Russian lathes are incredible! They seemed to be very big into linear style work with such rapid feeds. I can do 56mm/t on my Daewoo and I thought that was a lot. Most American lathes top out at less than 20mm. If I could stand the noise, I'd like to have one someday.

Agree with the noise on the Profila. Most of it came from the plunger oil pump that lubricated most of the lathe. I replaced it with an external oil pump run by a 500W motor. Simple install, worked perfect and half of the noise disappeared.

The 101.212 is the replacement for the 101.00 lost. Getting converted from 6205 ball to 7205 angular contact. It's more of a non restoration for now because I need to put it and me to work. Any turd polishing can wait.
The Benchmaster deserves its own thread. Likewise this is a non restoration because it's a tool first and something pretty dead last. I had to leave it at my brother's while I fight for space at the new digs. Like the lathe, bearings and typical greasing of the ways.

If there's any interest I'll create threads for both. Easy because all the text is elsewhere and all I'd have to do attach pics.

I originally meant to have more involvement here but, life .
