Whos using a tig button?

I was going to get an ssc finger control for my tig torch. But they are not available and they dont answer emails. My next option is a tig botton. The only thing i dont like about it is it needs 110 volt to power its control box. I read they have a battery pack option to get around this. I have a miller dynasty 200dx. Who has a tig button and how do you like it? Thanks guys

You can just get a momentary control that fits the 14 pin socket. There are tons of options for controls on the Dynasty. Call your LWS and see what they recommend.

I personally just use lift arc instead of a control if I can't use a foot pedal.

That is what I did... for my dynasty 200DX...

salvaged push button off the door stopper Chinese tig torch and bough a 14 pin from HTP (nice military grade)... that would work as on/off... if you needed something that does like the foot control, I think it's the 100K variable resistor...

I don't use it all the time but I keep it on my torch for times when I'm in a position that I can't use my wireless pedal.

The button works great and it plugs right into my Dynasty 200DX.

I assume the adapters you mentioned were needed for the SSC controls.

I almost picked up a Tig Button earlier this year, but ultimately I decided against it. It seems like a lot of guys that bought finger controls hardly used them. Tig Button's owner was great about answering questions, so I imagine he'd offer great support. If you end up with one, please do a review.

I use the tig button. I have one for each torch/hose. I don't use a foot pedal anymore, at all. It is much faster to move around with the torch/hose without having to kick a pedal around.

Only downside is not having your index finger to provide support for the torch which can cause some fatigue.

I had an issue with one of the buttons and the owner sent me a new one; pretty happy with the response to that issue.

Do you think its possible to put a plug on the button side to remove it quickly when not in use? 98 % of the time ill be using a cordless foot pedal.

I have a wireless foot pedal as well and rarely use it.

Just buy or build your own tig torch remote buttons...the pinouts for the dynasty 14 pin connector is there.... not sure what's the complication involved ... or consider that paddle between the legs as the weekly Kegel Exercises.

Why can't you use lift arc? I don't see the need for a remote if you're not varying the amperage.

Hmm. Are you needing the infinite arc adjust ability from zero to max, or can you use the sequencer in the machine to attenuate the amperage up and down on the slopes? Are you wanting to keep the high frequency start?

I'm just curious. The tig button seems like a nifty control. Pressure sensitive button vs a slider or wheel seems like a very useful feature.

I just haven't run into a spot where I need more than a few amps up or down, I usually just compensate by running a bit faster or slower depending. I do a LOT of out of position tig, and the need for me to adjust amperage on the fly isn't very common.

What kind of work are you doing?

Im doing alot of out of position spoon art. And horse shoes. Lol. Ive been jammed up before working on trailers and welding under a truck. Tig pedal was no good to me. Most projects are at a fab table. Dont want to be in a jam again

This guy makes several types for different makes. Miller Dyn 200DX is one of them.
Yes I have one for those times as you described variable amps.
Use it more on my Dyn 200DX but works on my Dyn 350DX too.

The majority of what I do is out of position tig and I wouldn't use anything but the momentary switch. I used the wireless pedal for a while and I can switch back if need be but the button is more convenient.

I think you should give it a try, you may be surprised.

SSC has treated me very well. IDK why you're having a problem but I'd give them another chance. They even come to the phone.

There is a 2-pin connector about 14” long from the button. When you want to disconnect, can just pull it off there and leave the rest of the wire in the hose cover.
