Who's using cordless as their primary impact wrench?

Looking at getting the Milwaukee 2763-22 to mostly replace my IR2131 in the shop w the added benefit of having that power on the road. I know many here love the 2763 including woodstockva and truckdriver.

But I'm still hesitant to take that step; conventional wisdom says cordless can't match air guns. I'm looking for MORE power than my 2131 and I know woodstockva felt the 2763 was as powerful as his IR2135TiMax, but I'm still skeptical.

I know cordless is physically larger, not so worried about that.

Thru today the 2763 can be had for $365 thru CPO with an extra (3rd) free battery.....

Thoughts?

Cordless is my go to for both 3/8"and 1/2". More often then not if the 1/2" can't do it, the air can either and the 3/4" comes out. That said, I do not trust a cordless to tighten lug nuts, always rechecked with a torque wrench. Also if a bolt is coming of hard, I will switch to air. I see no reason to beat the **** out of the cordless if I have air available. I run SO.

I am now. I am done with tripping over hoses and dragging them over cars. Don't get me wrong, I will still use my mg325 because it is so small, but for wheels I am 100% cordless now. The cordless guns are still somewhat big and heavy, but they are powerful unlike the older ones that were basically useless with high torque applications. Don't ditch the air stuff, just add a cordless. You want either the SO 7850, the IR 7150, or the Milwaukee Fuel. I am sure there are some others that are good, but I don't have any experience with them.

I don't currently have a garage, so I'm cordless for now. But once I get back into a place where I can have a compressor, I'll likely pick up Proto 3/8" and 1/2" guns...

If you can get a good deal, go for it. It's hard to think that a cordless impact can be as powerful as an air gun, but only because there hasn't been one until now. A friend of a buddy of mine tried to remove a BMW 3-series M3 crank bolt with his air impact and couldn't get it off. I loaned him my IR W7150 and it took off the bolt within 10 seconds. The Milwaukee would probably do the same!

Thanks all. Keep 'me coming. I wouldn't be getting rid of air of course, but I'd still just have my 2131 for air which, if I am to believe all I've read, would be outmatched by the cordless 2763. Still air would be nice for tight quarters or maybe extended overhead use on the lift, like multiple bellhousing bolts where you're holding the tool up for awhile.

My 2763 milwaukee is as powerful as my mg725. I love it and use it instead of my air impact 99.9% of the time. The other day I said I wanted to use my snap on gun for a bit, but put it away real quick. I hate dragging air hoses, now more then ever

I was skeptical as well, but after seeing videos, decided to try a 2763. I'm in a smaller garage now and running air is a PITA.

It's no joke, I think it's stronger than my Thundergun (which was stronger than a 2135 Ti I tried and returned). Batteries last a LONG time, and the thing hits hard. It is deceptive, the balance of the battery and overall heavier weight make it feel like it's not hitting that hard, but proof is in the results. I've popped hitch balls off receivers, done a ton of lugnuts, some control arms....it loosens with ease.

Had a 3/8 Milwaukee M18 Fuel for a while, loved it. Did everything I used my MG725 on and more. Picked up the 1/2 Hi Torque Fuel with Hog Ring, sold my MG 725 shortly after. Have not run into anything I cant get off yet.

My problem is the weather, oh don't get me wrong I love cordless tools but my man cave does not come with enough heat or cool air and either the very cold or the very hot weather just kills my batteries, forget the humid stuff.

So I tend to stick with air tools and bring out the cordless stuff when the temperature is not going to wreck havoc on the batteries left overnight in the man cave.

We don't get THAT hot and zero humidity. My problem used to be the cold but Milwaukee really addressed that with the "M" series of lithium-ion. Although some mornings all my chargers are flashing red/green from the overnight cold, but the batteries seem to perform fine.

I first heard about it at Toolguyd. If it were out NOW I'd order it. A lot of my work involves quick bursts w Rolocs. I'm not positive this will compete in that application but I'm willing to try.

On a different note the 2763 is my first M18. I was gonna get the Bluetooth radio & charger but damn they're proud of that at $200+. I've already got the big multi-voltage radio & the M12 radio so.........I was just looking forward to my phone sending music to the stereo while still on my person.

I pour a little oil in my airless tools before each use and BINGO... works every time even after 25 years. My corded tools also seem to last decades longer than cordless ****.

Quite a difference for me. I have cordless tools that are much older than 6-7 years and they're still fine. It's the battery that you need to be careful of. The tools themselves will last forever. Good thing is cordless batteries are much better now. You have manufacture warranty that should pretty much guarantee at least a could of years of hard use.

I use my Dewalt 3/8" as my go to for everything and if that won't take it off my Milwaukee Fuel 1/2" comes out. Air lines are a pain to drag around but if you need them you need them.

I use my milwalkee fuel day to day.......i love the no hose thing. I dont have to bust the air out much anymore. I like it. Not as much power as my 2135 ti maxx.......but close.

The 2763-22 is absolutely EVERY bit as powerful as the 2135QtiMAX....the proof is in my review on it, very few impacts (cordless or air) can remove Honda crank bolts...the 2763 removed 2 of them in that video.

I had not thought of using that with ROLOC discs.....good idea! I have one coming at some point soon, so I will be sure and include that test in my review.

I absolutely LOVE the M18 radio/charger....it is my favorite Milwaukee "tool". The bluetooth works great on it & there is no static at all when charging the battery. The runtime is unreal & at medium sound it lasts almost 2 days.....at a high sound volume it lasts all day.

Good thing milwaukee has a 5 year warranty.

I will agree.....the 2763 & W7150 are both quite large & pneumatic guns with similar or more power are smaller and more lightweight.

So, while the power levels are equalizing, the pneumatic impacts still win in the (compact) size department.

That being said, I rarely use air anymore.

I do. I have an IR 2135 QtiMax as my air impact but I use an IR W7150 and Milwaukee 2654-22CT 98% of the time. I've basically converted my tools all over to cordless. I hate wired tools/hoses.

I love my Milwaukee cordless but air tools are more stout.

Air ratchets don't feel like they're going to crush in your hands while pulling on them..

Air impacts are lighter and faster. Not only that, but the impacts are a lot smoother on your arms than cordless. My Milwaukee is louder under the car than my 2135Ti.

Even the cheapy die grinder are better than using Dremels and angle grinders.

Air saws are a lot smoother than any cordless hackzall/sawzall on the market.

Still doesn't have a cordless version of an air hammer. I'd pay $600 for a cordless Snap-on PH3050.

If the shop floor wasn't so ******** oily and dirty I'd have no problem working with air tools.

I use the Milwaukee m18 Fuel as my big boy and a standard Dewalt 18v inpact driver for everything up to 100 ft lbs, its a great duo. I still want air just for the sound

shoot that was all i used to use now every car i work on has lug bolts instead of lug nut's so its easier to hold the tire and drop my air gun down the the floor holding the air hose then it is to throw my M18 on a lift arm hopefully not dropping a tire......... although for 3/8ths my m18 still does the heavy lifting if she can't pull something off then the mg325 get's to put in some work.

Depends on the torque levels. On a passenger car it's probably fine for every single fastener on the car. Submarine? Not so much. Alien spacecraft? Nah they don't have bolts bro they got magic super glue or something.

Milwaukee 2650-20 1/4 hex with a 3/8 adapter. Mainly for removing seat bolts, seatbelt bolts, breaking down seats for upholstery ..etc. I work at a stereo shop, so nothing too heavy duty. Also great for driving fasteners when building enclosures and such. Can't say enough good things about it. I use the Snap-On CT661QC for most of my other interior stuff, light duty things. Hardly ever have to use my pneumatic Mac impact anymore.

The Milwaukee, snap on and Matco cordless ratchets seem good for smaller jobs but feel flimsy at larger jobs, but the IR seems to excel in all areas. I do agree that cordless impacts for the most part are larger but I haven't bumped into an area where I wasn't able to get at what I wanted.
