Probably low war time production most manufacturing in the U.S. Switched to producing specifically for the war. How many 42,43,44,45 chevy ford or dodges have you seen?

All production was shifted over to supporting the war effort. Snappy probably halted their civilian tool production entirely, and likely made only Government issue tools, which had no warranty. A lot of them probably got lost by soldiers and sailors during the war, or went down with U.S. ships in battle, etc.

I think only one piece, that was stamped 1943 has shown up. My guess is that 43 and 44 were both stamped E

Remember that industrial production was ramping up like crazy, new factories all over the place and old factories expanding in every way. Use in civilian places for war production was huge, so I would assume that a lot of those E and G tools must have gone into war industries and not just into strictly military channels.
