Why Buy Snap-on?

As much as you ***** about price customer service is really non existent at HF. One example that HF can not touch. You need a 2 5/8 socket or something weird for something that just showed up and broke on your property. Is HF or craftsman going to get the item over nighted to you? Yes you can play I will search the internet and you might spend hours doing that and hope you will get it in time and be the right one. But having a cultivated relationship with a dealer can help you. It is going to be difficult and time costly not having a relationship with a tool truck. Does HF even carry a 3 inch socket?

this might be true.. but if your snap on guy is going to charge $250 for a single oversized socket to be shipped over night.. im betting most people wont have a problem hitting the internet..

I think everyone is willing to accept that snap on, and the tool trucks have their place. well obviously - they are all still around... but its only a matter of time before they play the "made in china" game to survive. its happening already, which is why every snap on labeled item sold in club stores is made by alltrade tools. its a big money maker for them since only about a dozen people will spend $700 on a set of torx bits..

And here is the gist of it. It boils down to convenience mixed with a little bit of laziness. There are better values on hand tools out there, there are better hand tools. But the tool trucks are nothing more than the mechanic's heroin dealer and he has them hooked. Too bad they are too doped up to see what is happening to them.

I can't walk down to my local store and pickup other quality brands... I can get Canadian Tire "Mastercraft", Chinese Craftsman (if sears has any stock) or Kobalt from Home Depot. Which are all sub par, and warranty is annoying... Me: "Oh you dont have the socket in stock, can you order it?" Them: " No sorry you will have to wait till its in stock, just come back next week and see"

I will call my Mac dealer (SO dealer is a douche) and say I need a socket warrantied, or I need a tool asap. He will be around the shop in 30 mins or have his wife drop off the correct tool for me, never failed me yet. Is that worth the extra price tag... hell ya if your hoist is ******* and not making you money. I would rather be happy making money then pissed and losing money.

I'm on the fence with this whole Ginger/Mary Ann thing. Ginger had the better body, but I've always preferred dark haired chicks. My wife is of Itallian ancestry, so it worked out.

Paper/Plastic: I like the 2nd hand functionality of plastic. It's great for ****** diapers, dog **** in the front yard, disposable lunch bucket, trash bag on a car trip, and many more. Paper just *****. My first job was bagging groceries at Kroger. Everytime some wrinkled old ***** asked for paper I wanted to punch her in her saggy female parts. I guess I'm not gonna make the jury cut on this issue.

Coke/Pepsi: Well, I am part of the "Pepsi Generation". Coke was founded by a drug addict who sold 2/3 of his company for chump change to ensure he had enough morphine to last him until he died shortly thereafter. I don't give a damn about any of that, but I do prefer Pepsi

VHS/Beta: I guess this problem worked itself out. Greedy Sony bastards overplayed their hand. Again, I don't give a damn, but I couldn't find Back To The Future, G.I. Joe, or the original Ninja Turtle movie on Beta, so VHS by all means.

Plasma/LCD: The guy at Best Buy said my kids video games might burn in the screen and wasn't the ideal choice for well lit areas. I couldn't stand the thought of seeing an outline Spongebob Squarepants while watching Monday night football or sitting in the dark, so I went LCD

I am working with a few Canadian guys and they have no pride. They don't give two shits where the tool is made. They just want to pay as less as they can in order to get the tool they need. They buy from Canadian tire. "Break it, take it back and they replace it. Abuse and misuse the **** out of it, take it back and they replace it." They don't care how many times the same tool fails and they have to drive down to the store to replace it.

Wasted time and energy instead of just buying a quality tool in the first place.

I do agree with you on plastic, only thing I hate about those things is actually getting the groceries home in them. Paper works so much better for that. Otherwise they work great for everything we use them for at our house. What was this thread about again,tools or something?

Plastic actually has a lower impact to the environment, when you consider total life, how much it takes to produce and ship the heavier paper bags. I learned this from a Harvard professor who is an expert in life cycle analysis when he did an LCA for our company.

Do the names Sear, Kmart, or Barnes & Noble mean anything to you. I agree Snap On is strong now, but with a couple of bad decisions, say exporting your entire line to China, three years from now they could easily be selling their brand name for whatever sentiment it has.

Actually, factories do produce varying levels of quality depending on which OEM they are making the product for. Totally depends on the product and the co's involved, I am not sure of any of the SO suppliers produce varying levels but it does happen.

Well sure they do.. But the World could have been flat also.. The big difference between Snap On and those above referenced companies is that they are Physical locations with a abundance of Overhead and competing with outside Internet sales/electronic books etc.. IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM am I trying to dictate the future for any company, currency or PM. I will say this... Snap on has been in business for along time, They have proven to make a pot full of Money for not only themselves but for investors. I would definitely have to see something outside of what there financial records/product line is showing to try and convince me that they have intentions that they are going to offshore there entire line. IMO That seems like a abundantly Silly Scenario to me...

Be Careful out there guys.. I had this Crazy thought, What If in the Next 3 Years, SK who has invested Millions into keeping the SK line completely Domestic. Moves there entire line overseas? Better sell are you stuff now, it could happen.
