Yeah some people don't get sarcasm I guess.![]()
No, they don't bother to care about the sarcasm (and it is lame sarcasm) when they know you're a joke.

I happen to like SnapOn's hard line. My question is why do people buy SnapOn brand stuff that is rebranded other companies tools. I have a guy trying to sell me a SnapOn brand welder. It is a rebranded Century at 2x the price. He has over $3500 ******* in a welder that sold for $1800 painted yellow.
I know it is easy to pick up stuff off the truck, but to pay 2x and then having to pay interest on financing it boggles my mind.
.......and let's not leave out Ginger or Mary Ann, synthetic oil vs. conventional, paper or plastic, Coke or Pepsi, VHS vs. Beta, LCD or plasma.
Plastic actually has a lower impact to the environment, when you consider total life, how much it takes to produce and ship the heavier paper bags. I learned this from a Harvard professor who is an expert in life cycle analysis when he did an LCA for our company.
+1. I like my snap on tools, but I do not trust them enough to buy from them without shopping competitive offerings. There is a place for the Snapy dealer. There is a time to shop around. Blind following of the the Snappy or nothing cult is dangerous.
Shall we?

I searched the snap on catalog for razors and found nothing. So much for them being the be-all and the end-all for solving problems.

You people have a mental illness, please see a shrink. LolThe hell you say…..
And of course I found it Here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-153244.html

Why'd you go and do a thing like that?

Here is a suggestion if you or anyone else doesn't like this thread....STOP COMING HERE AND POSTING SH!T!
And let ppl like you keep bashing tool companies just because they are expensive and you cant afford them
Nope not a typo. It is a 5 in socket used on a hydraulic wrench. It is used to torque the bolts that hold the blades onto the propeller shaft on of a ship. Its been a few years, but if I remember correctly the torque spec is 4500 lbs.
I wasn't actually on the truck. He had to stop and pick it up at his warehouse. I guess when you service an area that has as many ships as Hampton Roads thinks like this do pop up occasionally and its good to be prepare. I don't think he drove around with one as part of his normal inventory.
I also don't see it in Snap On's normal catalog. Special order maybe?
A lot of people can afford SO just fine...but choose not to because they think it is a waste of money.
So instead of SO, I buy new streetbikes, late model trucks with aftermarket bolt-on's, guns, ammo, reloading equipment, welders, plasma's, 4x4 truck parts, ATV's, build big blocks, etc...
Yes, my 'hobbies' might be a dumb use of money to some...but it damn sure provides more fun than a ratchet or wrench set...no matter what brand!
THAT is what pisses me off about Snap On. I have to do the research on every potential purchase to make certain it is not a rebrand, or I get f**ked on the purchase. Some of my tools are snap on. None of them are rebrands. Every time I've found out a purchase I was considering was a rebrand, I bought it elsewhere. They have more rebranded stuff than a lot of people realize, and taking the given example of that welder, there's nothing they've done to add $1700 worth of value to that $1800 welder. They just marked the price up that much because f**k you, that's why.
BOTH (duh?)
Synthetic.
Either.
Either if fountain, Pepsi if canned.
Neither.
LED
I get that point. Does it have any bearing on the outcome of that LCA whether the bags are recycled, or landfilled?

Buddy if i can afford Hazet, Gedore, Heyco, Wera and other high dollar GERMAN brands I can afford Snap-On. Snap-On is overpriced for what you are getting period. The design, fit and finish are nothing compared to GERMAN brands.
But nice try.
Perfect example of someone that is GREEN (Snap-On Green of course) with tool envy.
Rabid tool envy.
LOL at this guys opinion. Germans make nice stuff, but MERICA has a lock tools.
I not only drink the Kool Aid I chug it.
#4 Those of us that don't want to buy it because it will make us pretentious twits. Why Buy Snap-ON?
Cause there are three kinds of people in this world...
#1 Those that buy Snap-On
#2 Those that wish they could buy Snap-On, and quietly keep it to themselves, and hope someday they can step up to the best.
#3 Those that wish they could buy Snap-On and go on and on and on buying and comparing other brands that don't even come close. The ones that are the loudest are the ones that wish they could have Snap-On the most. Believe that.
Which one are YOU ?
