Why do I have 2 electric meters?

In new zealand, every house has 2 meters.
Be really strange here if they only had one.

I guess i wasnt clear. Of course ive seen houses with 2 meters, what i was talking about was a piggyback spliting adapter like the OP shows in the pic- one pan, 2 meters.

Im sure your house has 2 meter pans/sockets...
