Why do Snap On ratchets come without quick release?

After the last thread on this, I bought a qr ratchet. I still hate qr! If you dont line up the hole in the socket to the pin.......it falls off.

honey youre doing something wrong, my cman and kobalt sockets have an indent in each wall of the drive square making 4 total, (some have 8), not a single hole, and my taiwanese ratchet has a ball retainer not a pin, so.... i can put the socket on without looking to find a hole and the ball on my drive = easy on, button = easy off

sounds like you have the wrong socket and ratchet combo

Growing up with Craftsman ratchets, when I used my first SO ratchet. I hated not having the QR. Thought it was stupid to not have it but I've used and love my F80 so much that I now prefer non-QR.

Another thing, my Craftsman flex 3/8" don't lock into drain plugs like my F80 does. Not sure if it has to do with the QR or not. I don't have any other QR ratchets to compare to.

The QR mechanism is also something that could break on the ratchet. Less parts to break make it more reliable and sturdier.
