Why doesn't bondhus make T35 torch?

Yeah, I've had guys from Ford call me and try to tell me what sizes are in the Torx Standards. Uhh...sorry dude but I'm holding the master copy of the book here on my desk and there isn't a T37 in the book. There have been a ton of aftermarket bits made over the years in odd sizes to fit exterior parts that have paint and clear coat in the recesses so that standard bits won't fit without hammering them in. But the list of the actual punch sizes that are supplied to the screw and bolt makers hasn't changed any since about 1984 or so. We spend a lot of time tweaking gages and coming up with special recess depths for yield bolts and very special Torx Plus recess depths for Boeing in the 787 fasteners.

I wonder if the bolts used in Snap On flex ratchets and/or the SN 24C "breaker" are special or proprietary (the pivot for the drive in the bar that some people keep a little loose for easy flex/hinge action but as I remember a tool truck guy said it's supposed to be tight!)
seems to be 27 Plus in the 1/2" drive breaker bar (question for Camping57)

I guess the Chinese can make up a new size of their own especially if they call it "star fastener"

Like plenty of depth in those things and I think they might need to be cleaned out with paint remover or something(little dental pick?) before one goes in to try to remove one of the fasteners

I think that what happened to Mutt was that the paint filled up the lobes in the recess and made it seem like a T27 wouldn't fit. A 30 should never fit into a 27, no matter what the combination was. One possibility is that a T30 made by a non licensed mfg. might be made so small that it would fit, but that is unlikely.

This is actually why you should wait to have an application.

I did have an application. I needed to access the inner workings of the tailgate latch handle on an F150. Like I mentioned above, my T30 bit socket (a Husky Pro at that time) was a sloppy fit and T40 would not fit. And there was no paint or other foreign objects in the recesses. So, I assumed it must be a T35. The one pictured above was the only one I could find (and after Camping's explanation, I now know why) but it also would not fit. That's when I searched the F150 forums and found several different posts saying that it was a TP27. I already had an Apex bit so I put it into a bit holder and it worked like a charm. However, on closer inspection, the fastener is not a Torx Plus but appears to be a standard Torx. I have since tried both a Proto and Wiha T30 driver just for grins. Although they both fit better than the Husky, they are still a little loose. I guess it's simply a case of loose fastener tolerances. :dunno:

I understand this is an old thread, but for those looking for T35 bit or information on them, posted information is useful. According to Matco, the T35 (Matco Part No. B35TXV) is "Designed to be used on Ford Shield bolts".

I have heard (not seen) of those also using them on Jeep and Toyota and also motorcycles. In the US, Matco is a reputable brand, I am just sharing their information.

Wow lots of bitching about me asking about a T35 torx. Delete the thread because of it? It was a question! I was looking at the list of included sockets. I've used a 25 and a 45 and a55 so in my mind there should be a damn 35. I've never seen a T8 torx. And somebody decided a 25 was too small and a 30 was too big so they invented a T27. So is it really that crazy that I thought there was a T35?

I know it's an old thread, but I gotta say - it's beyond amusing that people got more pissy at someone looking for a T35 than they did of the BS that was being spewed about Apex buying Bondhus, and Bondhus outsourcing production to China.

I had only resurrected the thread as I found it in my own searches referenced in a few places. I thought the info from Matco would be useful to someone as it appeared that most, as kythri said, sort of insisted that the T35 was either non existent or a scam tool.

It is for sure from what I see a rare tool. I see it more in Asian branded sets, those of which also usually do not contain the T47. In the US here (and also EU from what I see), it is the opposite where there is no T35 but there is a T47. The T27 also mentioned here seems fairly common on the US/EU and Asian sets. I have the T35 bit socket and can confirm that it in fact, as according to spec, fits perfectly into the E7 socket. As far as where used, I have yet to use it for legitimate purpose. I acquired mine for a damaged T30.
