Military mosquito repellent melts Craftsman screwdriver handles. Yes, it's totally irrelevant but true. It may melt others as well but I don't feel like ruining another screwdriver to find out!

I do have to ask a question. Why is it that there is thread after thread on this forum bashing Craftsman standard screwdrivers (not the pro) and then some guy gets on here and attempts to demonstrate the problem and gets slammed for bashing Craftsman screwdrivers? I realize his test was flawed but he was just trying show what is talked about over and over and over on this board. I guess I'm an idiot as well because I've never heard of Reed Prince screwdrivers but it appears I have several that have been pretending to be phillips.

Hiya Blue Dog, I am doing well, thank you. We have about 18" of snow on the ground but it hasn't been to cold that past few days. It's staying about 30 degrees night and day so I have been getting some good shop time in with my dogs. I like to let them hang out in the shop all day in this kind of weather so they can lay on a piece of carpet near a heater and get out of the snow for awhile. They all have heated dog houses to sleep in but I like us all spending time together when we can

So who now is going to undertake the task of showing how poorly a 1/2" Craftsman raised panel wrench does at removing a frozen 3/8" bolt? Don't forget to make sure that the competitor wrenches are 3/8". And be sure to include photos showing the horrible slop in the fit!

Were you stirring your military mosquito repellent with the handle of a cman screwdriver? Why do you need to stir it anyway? could you not just shake the bottle? and lastly, if it will eat the handle, what do you think it does to your body? Was this military mosquito repellent left of from the cold war years and shipped to you from the USSR?

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about tools, but I never knew there was such a thing as a "Reed and Prince" driver or fastener? Or that it could be mistaken for a Phillips.

Then again, not a lot of ship-building goes on here in Minnesnowta.

If my life ever becomes so mundane that I get this serious about the difference between a reed prince...er...prince reed..whatever..and a phillips head screwdriver....please just shoot me.

I do however have 3 bent CM flathead screwdrivers and I think they're too soft also.

hmmmm...wonder if I'm supposed to call them slotted and not flathead.

I agree that the basic Cman screwdrivers are JUNK. I actually liked the first edition pro models with the hard black handles and the black shanks. Things were much simpler then.

Also, the Craftsman Pro screwdrivers are very good screwdrivers for the money. The older black ones even more than the new generation red/black ones...

He gets the point across, however, that low-end Craftsman ****, but the Pro line is actually pretty good.

I agree the older "pro" line of Cman drivers are not bad at all!
