Why I'm excited about the SK x frame wrenches

I only have 10,12,13,14 and 15 in metric and 1/2,9/16 in standard. I just got the sizes I use most. What excites me is the 10mm can drive a 1/4 socket adapter and the 1/2 /13mm can drive a 3/8 socket adapter. So if I have no room to swing a Armstrong 88, I can swing a 216 sk x frame. I can have a 1.7 degree ratchet. That's kool on my book.

Even better, I bought the kobalt pass thru sockets, which I'm told are made by bluepoint, that fit my ratchet wrenches. They are spline sockets and being able to use the ratchet wrenches makes them super slim. They have been on sale at lowes for a while now and are less than a dollar a socket.

You are going to run head on into the ''too many options' trap and end up with a pile of useful yet unused tools in the future.

I did what you are doing and currently use none of the above early.stuff.
It was a fun mania while it lasted.

I would love to purchase these spanners, however SK is not a brand thats easy to get down under. Which would make it hard in the event i need to warrant something.

You're welcome. They also make adapters to use them with your regular ratchets. Essentially they are just sockets that have a small *** sticking out that sit in the groove on the pass thru sockets, holding them in place. I don't even own the actual pass thru ratchets because of the adapters and the ratchet wrenches. Using them with nice a reversible ratchet wrench is way better then the sucky kobalt ratchets they make for them anyways. Most of the time though I use them with my older snap on 6 point ratchet wrenches. They're strong as heck and won't break under heavy torque.

I took some pictures to show you the Kobalt sockets. From left to right is a 13mm ratchet wrench with Kobalt 1/4" drive, 13mm pass thru socket. next to it is a 1/4" Gearwrench 120xp with 13mm socket. Middle is 3/4" ratchet wrench with Kobalt 3/8" drive, 13mm pass thru socket and a 3/8" Snap On F80 ratchet with 13mm socket. Lastly is the 7/8" ratchet wrench with Kobalt 1/2" drive, 7/8" pass thru socket and a 1/2" Snap On S80 ratchet with 7/8" socket. One thing to mention is the Kobalt sockets actually sit deeper in the wrench than they appear making them even more shallow. Because of the table they are on the do not sit all the way into the wrench. The Kobalt sockets are also mm/sae combo. The 13mm is also a 1/2". As you can see there is a big difference. The last picture is two 1/4" ratchets, one with a deep 13mm socket and the other has the Kobalt 13mm socket with the 1/4" ratchet adapter. I've only used them a few times, but they do work. Not sure they are the same quality as the universal Mac or Matco sockets that remove damaged fasteners, but thats not really why I bought them. I bought them for the spline aspect to use on 12 point spline fasteners.
