Why left hand threads on pruning shears?

One blade has threads
The other blade has a bigger hole.
There is also a nut on the bolt.

^^^ My guess as well.

There is pressure on the nut on the cutting stroke when everything tightens up but very little pressure on the nut on the release stroke.

I would think the cutting action would actually tighten the joint if it was RH.
IMO, the LH is used to keep that from happening.


Wouldn't ya know, someone who looked at the photo and actually put some though into it would come along...
