CSI,
I am not referring to LED Lamps..
I am referring to a driven LED chip, mounted to a board, being driven by a low voltage transformer driver assemby, at MILLIAMPS of current.
Name Brand drivers have been tested well beyond the 100k hour mark.. Hence, Hubbell Lighting, warrantying ALL of our LED fixtures COMPLETELY for 5 years from date of install. The driver has zero loss of output during its complete lifecycle. Of course, there will be failures. But product failures are an anomaly, accounted for with the warranty.
LED is in essence an incandescent lamp source. There is no cathode, no inert gas, etc.
It's a very simple, low voltage current supplied across a filament.
The biggest killer of LED assemblies, is heat. We're manufacturing fixtures suitable for a 65*C environment at this time. UL tests out a T code for each fixture.. Not a generic, broad "category" of fixtures.
Lumen Maintenance ratings (when supplied by viable manufacturers) is true lumen output at various stages in their rated life.
It's not some "hocus pocus" figure..
