Interesting responses. The Great Lakes region is or was home to many tool and steel manufacturing. Skilled immigrants came to the area from Europe and settled around the lakes. At one time, the hole of the population of the US was centered within 600 miles of Cleveland. We still have good manufacturing in Cleveland, just on a smaller scale from years ago. I remember in the late 60's and into the 70's, riding into Cleveland and seeing the Ford V-8 seasoning at the cold storage lots around Orange Ave. and Broadway. That was at a time of big steel, and lots of pollution. Not many engines are seasoned in the open air anymore. Just a sign of the fuel efficient times we live in.
