Nothing worse than searching in google for a good idea with the phrase "garage journal" at the end and seeing nothing but images from pintrest.. doesn't anyone like this site? I've seen the same thing happen to auto forums, the users got lazy and started going to the fb group and pintrest and now the original sites are full of spam and inactivity..

I've never been able to open a pintrest post on my phone and see how they built something or any info...

We are men not our wives... wtf are we on pintrest for?

What in the world? If you want to only find stuff from here use "site:garagejournal.com" instead of just putting Garage Journal in the search. That should only give results from this site. I'm not understanding the rant against Pinterest though.

I have yet to actually understand the real point of pintrest. I also dont care or use facebook. But it looks like I might at least have to bother with fb since it seems no one even wants to text on the phone anymore and just post all day long on fb..

I actually like using the Pinterest app. Great way to store ideas off all the stuff I want to get around to doing. I've got tons of pics of storage, project ideas, stuff for the barn, body mods to cars

That's my problem with it, just PICTURES! No step bu step, material list, q&a for solving related problems.

Example: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/471892867180188177/

Sweet rack Doug, too bad it's not on a manly site like garage journal with build pics and specs ect..

Not really. There is a "visit" or "read" button. Click on that and it will take you to the source material. However it really is more of an idea place, not full plans. I'm not worried about plans as I like figuring out the how, and usually end up modifying the project to better suit my needs

In defense of Pinterest, I get lots of ideas there. I was intrigued by a thread on GJ about pipe fixture shelving. The thread had a few pics. Went to Pinterest and there were so many pics and ideas I got tired of looking. If you want inspiration for furniture or outdoor arbors or...it is a great site.
I come to GJ for the "how to" part.

Easier posting a single pic there than taking the time to come explain here..

Exactly what facebook did to car forums, but y'all can still love your pintrest, just dont expect this site to last, especially with the photo sharing on here... Photobucket, tinypic ect would have been nice but nope.

Actually, I came to Garage Journal by way of Pinterest. I was making a garage ideas board and kept finding great ideas and cool pictures that nearly always led back to Garage Journal, so I signed up. I haven't really visited Pinterest since.

I don't understand your statement, are you saying that you cant share photos from Photobucket, but only from Pintrest? I use Photobucket to host ALL my photos, and I post a fair amount of them. Keith

In a nut shell.

I wish more things I see on pintrest would be posted to here with how to's ect!

Some ideas on pintrest do have links leading back ect.

But the convenience of just posting a photo to pintrest will kill forum activity, unless everything posted there gets linked back to here.

I guess I prefer the garage journal 100x over pintrest!

The problem is that posting a picture here isn't intuitive at all. Neither is referring to another person's comment. No, I don't know programming languages. That is why they make graphical user interfaces. Why can't I just click on the "insert image" icon, scan my computer, and double click on my image to show a picture? What's so hard about that?

How about a tutorial in one place that tells people how in the world are they supposed to do what is supposed to be simple basic stuff on this site? I wasn't able to figure out how to put an album together on this site, and am not sure I really want an album of mine in this site. I'm sure I'm not alone on this.

There's been several threads on how to post pictures. Posting pictures is not that hard, it's just a matter of how you want to do it. You can copy/paste a link from a photo hosting site like Photobucket or you can upload them directly from your computer to this site via an attachment.

Why the hate of how things are. It's no different on this site than it is other sites when it comes to posting pics. And it's not hard at all to start a pic album. To post a pic, all you have to do is right click on a pic you want to post, and use the icon above to do it, or if the pic is on your computer, you just click on the "Go Advanced" button, then click on the "Manage Attachments" button then find the pic on your computer.

But you have 6 postings on here and at least one of them is complaining about how the pics are setup, and you don't even know if you would want an album on this site. Why not just give the site a chance, and if you ask, there are many people on here that would be more than happy to help you out, me included. Then again, maybe this site isn't for you. I think it's very easy to navigate around, and the people on here are some of the friendliest that you will find of any site on the 'net. Give it a chance, and what you need help on, I'll be more than happy to walk you through the process of posting pics or setting up an album.:beer:

Kevin, a little constructive criticism is not "hate." This is different from another site that I use. ...So I can't use the "insert image" icon in a quick reply to attach a picture unless I have the picture posted to some url. Nor can I use the "insert image" icon in the advanced mode to insert a picture unless it is posted to some url. But I can use the "manage attachments" button to scan my computer and insert an image. OK, I get it. It certainly wasn't very intuitive to me. Thanks much
