I think it is equivalent, of a guy asking a girl why she has so many shoes; if you aren't a tool freak like us, it just doesn't make sense.... most women will say they can't have too many shoes! Each shoe is for a particular dress/occasion; well each screwdriver is for each particular situation/fastener.. you can't have too many tools! :)
Again, being able to reach into your rollaway and finding the right tool for any given situation/repair; is the ultimate power trip!

My wife has stopped asking me long ago why I need more screwdrivers, wrenches...etc.

"I just do" is what I always tell her.

Don't do what I did.... I came back with "Why are you still buying weight watcher dinners? I would have thought they would have worked by now...."

She DID NOT see ANY humor in that.....

Its an addiction,

I already have a set of Torx, metric nut drivers, miniture percission screwdrivers, hex screwdrivers, Robertson, 3 ratcheting screwrivers, hard handle screwdrivers. Now I'm working on getting the Pozidrive, soft handle and instinct sets piece by piece.

Why you ask? Why not!

I always liked the Craftsman stubby blade that came with a set of screwdrivers. A couple of months ago I discovered they made a 4 piece of stubby screwdrivers and stubby torx and I scooped those right up. My wife has stopped asking why a bunch of years ago...

I buy plenty of screwdrivers because they are generally cheaper than most other tools :).

Plus I use screwdrivers more frequently than any other tool.

I agree with having the right tool for the job. phillips, posi, slot, torx, and a bit driver in this drawer and i don't have a picture of my other screwdriver drawer. I'd like to get square drive screwdrivers in the wiha 3k line if possible since those drivers seem to be getting more popular.

When asked why I have so many the answer ranges from "because i can", "just in case", and "i'm starting a captive breeding program"

I bought my wife a snap on ratcheting screwdriver, and a snap on 10 in 1 screwdriver. And amazingly she has a whole new outlook on "screwdrivers" now.
