Wide car on 4 post lift limitations

Thanks for all of the ideas and recommendations here so far. I searched prior and couldn't find anything using similar keywords.

My c3 corvette is getting 4" fender flares on the rear with 18x12 wheels on stock offset, placing my car at ~77" wide when finished.

Most 4 post lifts have similar dimensions as far as ramp widths (~74-75"), and I understand my tires may hang off a little bit, but I want to make sure my car will fit between the ramp mounts, brackets, cable guides, etc. Does anyone have any insight on clearance on the ramps or recommendations for a slightly wider 4 post lifts without a huge footprint?

Thanks in advance

On mine you will clear the post, but the exposed wires will be very close. You can buy an oversized lift from some manufacturers. Pretty tight fit regardless.

Thats the lift I own and its plenty wide enough. Its actually over 8' between the posts and with the runways at the wide position they are 82 inches outside edge to outside edge. You are correct, drive thru is 86.5". You can see mine framed by an 8' wide door.a00d2e0dca6d483a351ceb6686b97e52.jpga69a8cb8fd4fd2cb962f775bcc0a8c31.jpg

My normal width Bendpak HD-9XW will fit all of the following cars (wide ramp position). If you need, I can take some exact measurements.

2010 Toyota Tundra (4 door, shortbed)
2000 Volvo wagon
1976 Corvette
1965 Mustang
2015 Ford Focus
2006 Pontiac G6
1996 F-150

When I bought mine several years ago, Direct Lift had the widest between post width of any company, including BendPak.

Scroll to the bottom of this page for dimensions:
https://www.derekweaver.com/rodders...t-lift-pro-park-9-plus-certified-4-post-lift/
The outside edge of ramps width is more or less same. Bendpak has 5" more open between ramps but a foot or so less between columns. Not sure that extra helps many since not much on the road is over 8'. Mine is so tight to the side wall that the extra foot of overall foot print would have kept mefrom centering it on the door opening.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I may not be able to use those lifts, but I can at least reference the dimensions. I'm trying to find a lift that fits the garage vs making my garage fit the lift and this is starting to get into unobtainium territory. Does anyone have any experience with the Triumph 9k lb lifts?

We've established that there are many lifts out there that will easily accomodate your car. If we knew what constraints your garage has we could help more.

I built my garage addition about 5 years ago and planned for a lift. It took me a lot of shopping to settle in on my lift, a 9,000 lb Challenger, 4-poster Q4P09X. I suppose everyone says they really love their selection, but I am totally happy with mine. It's extra wide and tall. Check out the specs here: https://store.asedeals.com/quality-lifts-q4p09x-four-post-vehicle-lift/#product.info.specs

My advice is to just keep planning and shopping for all the various options. Of course, you'll choose the one that's best for you, but plan for the future. Get it as big and tall and wide and heavy-duty as possible.

I just measured my HD9. From outside edge to outside edge of the runways is 81 inches. Mine is on the wide placement. The support brackets have 86.5 inches between them.

might i suggest if they ever have a charlotte autofair again go with your tape measure, there are usually 2 or 3 vendors with actual lifts at the show and you can strike a good deal

Thanks again for the recommendations and additional measurements

You are correct. I was being pretty vague, and of course there are lifts out there that will fit. I am more questioning if my car will fit on the typical standard sized 4 post lift, without giving up my extra parking space.

For reference here are my overall limitations. I am willing to compromise, but if there is something that fits the bill out of the box that would be great.

This is an attached 2+1 garage with 11.5" ceilings

I originally planned for a 2 post lift, so I have 220 30amp service added during the build, but during the construction I was made aware that a partitioning wall between the 2 car bay and 1 car bay was required, and a 2 post will just eat up too much of my space. My 110 outlets are only 20 amp. I see some 4 post lifts draw over 20 amps on 110.

Despite my ceiling height I have a standard garage door height. I know I may do a high track/motor at some point, but if I could get a lift with column height of under 85" it would be ideal to not HAVE to pay that $ now.

If possible, I would like to be able to still park my truck in the garage. Its not a deal breaker, but it is very convenient. The idea would be to keep the lift tucked close to the wall when not in use, then roll it on the casters to a more centered location for weekend projects.

Cost:. I understand there are a lot of quality lifts out there, but I am trying to stay at or under $3k. I may be being cheap, but since I'm having to go 4 post I will need a bridge jack, and will be paying for a professional install. That puts me at almost $5k for a lift that will be operated a few times/month to lift a 3k lb car that hasnt touched the road in 4 years... I think I should be able to get hobby level quality that is safe for that.

The Triumph NSS-8SQ (I dont know the rules for linking non-sponsored products) checks a lot of the boxes, except the unknown if my car would clear, and it is 110v only with a motor that draws 23 amps. Reviews show that it can sometimes trip the 20amp breaker initial movement.

I've attached some pictures to give you a better idea of layout. The blue tape on the floor is the dimensions of the triumph lift I referenced. The truck could move right just a little, but yes it would be pretty tight.

Thanks again for taking the time!
