My shop building is steel clad and the signal from the router in my house will not penetrate. I want to move my PC and a smart TV (streaming video) to the shop and also have phone connectivity. Will this work? Run an ethernet cable with RG45 connectors from the router in my house to the shop where it will connect to a repeater like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/AC1200-WiF...160255?hash=item36512d587f:g:EJcAAOSw1Z9dLvgW

What CAT rating cable would you use?

Cat 5 should be more than sufficient.
I have a separate router/switch in my shop so it is it’s own network off the main network.

I have 100’ of cat 5 in buried pvc conduit between house and shop.

I tried using a repeater but the signal kept getting cut off. I have a similar situation but the garage is out of range. My plan is to run cat5 to the garage and connect another wireless router to the current router, rather than use a repeater.

There must be 10 threads on this subject with numerous ideas.

Try the search function

10 threads this month.

should just do a super thread with it all in there in one go with all options on distance, budget, need. then we can link it.

If you run wire (and not fiber) you should but surge suppressors on both ends. I lost some equipment to a lightening storm before I added them. Short ground leads from them to the power panel ground bus bar.

You should use direct burial cable even if it is in conduit so it has water protection.
