Wifi temperature sensor recommendation needed

I would like the ability to remotely monitor and alarm on temperatures in my shop. If the device is able to report humidity, that's a bonus but not a requirement.

What do you folks recommend?

Do you have wifi in the shop? I have a Honeywell wifi thermostat (RTH6580). You can set up alerts for too low of temperature and too high. Mine sends me a text message when my shop is too cold. There's also an app for your phone so you can check and set the temperature remotely.

I have an Ambient Weather weather station that has the ability to send alerts and can have remote probes connected to it.

They make a base station that is separate from the full weather station.

Im in the same boat and interested in options. I have a WiFi thermostat but it only goes down to 40. Don’t need a weather station, just something tha can measure temp and connect to WiFi.

I have wifi and wired network access in the shop.... I'd sooner not change out the thermostat but am open to other ideas.

This is not exactly what you are asking for because as far as I know it does not have a temperature alarm function, but I check the thermometer in my "Blink" camera occasionally to see how cold the garage is.

*edit... there is a temperature alarm function in the app.

I have a raspberry pi with 5 ds18b20 temperature sensors in the attic. I originally put it all together to see the difference a couple fans made, then I forgot about it, then I didn't feel like going up and pulling it out of the rafters.

It was less than $50, and with a small amount of googling and learning, in less than a day I had it running well enough to pull a list of temps and times out, and see what I wanted to see.

If you spend a bit more time, or are smarter than me, you can have it send alerts or show you a graph or light up a bat signal.

I couldn't find anything on the shelf for less than hundreds of dollars to do what I wanted. 3 years ago.

I use this to monitor temp, humidity and sump pump in my basement. Works well. You can get a sensor that is just temp and humidity.
