WIFI Thermostat

I currently installed a Honeywell RTH6580WF WIFI stat in my shop... The temperature will not read below 40 (the current inside temperature) and the lowest setting it has is 40 for set temp.. I am wondering what people are using in shops and garages.. The thermostat must be WIFI able and I would like to keep it at a temperature of 35 -38 when not in use.. It must also have some type of remote adjustment.. (I.E. turn it up before I go out) One more thing.. I am running a renzor utility gas heater...150 or so btu can remember...

I understand the set point to call for heat but I have never seen a "thermometer " part of a thermostat not go below 40...

There are special purpose thermostats that run at lower temperatures (I don't recall seeing one in WiFi though).
But I would not recommend something like that for a gas heater. You're just asking to rot out the heat exchanger from condensation.

So just for clarification... it's bad to let the shop drop below 40 due to condensation buildup in the exchanger? So typically we shouldn't have a need for a wifi thermostat that drops below 40?

I am very interested as well, I am literally starting a thread for my heater selection and saw this... I am planning to use a wifi thermostat that can link to my WINK hub so I can monitor the shop temps on travel; and change it on the way home to do work in the evenings.

It's tough to find an electronic or wifi that is low temp. I use a mercury slider and tilt it slightly. An old trick to get the temp lower. My main house is SENSI.

Rumor on the street is this one goes lower... got an email out to the company to confirm you have to buy the stat and the WiFi module...

That is what I did. My mercury thermostat is mounted out of level. I set the temp, let the heat run and stabilize, and then marked the setting so I have reference points. Been that way since 1995.

They're not made to run below 40 degrees. It's why I basically gave up on a WiFi thermostat setup. I keep the garage just above freezing.

It does eventually get cold here - never mind that the honeysuckle is blooming in Texas right now - but my shop has never been below 40F even with no heat on. I checked with Ecobee and their min is 45F.
