Promo Code: 50KCELEBRATE

Thank you

anyone know how their Pliers Wrench (https://www.wihatools.com/soft-vinyl-grip-pliers-wrench) compares to Knipex?

FYI, it's made in Vietnam, not Germany. Here's a review from Youtube

Got me for a 5 piece screwdriver set, flush cuts, needle nose pliers, a tip magnatizer, and a storage bag for $52 delivered.....not bad. Disappointed that most of their pliers are made in Vietnam, but for half off they are the same price as no name imports, so worth a shot.

Was going to buy a set of their MagicTip snap ring pliers finally and it looks like they've pretty much phased them out with no replacement. Only 4 individual sizes left.

Is there an easy way to find products made in the US or Germany on their site? They don't have it clearly labeled in the description and you can occasionally see the country of manufacture in the photo, but not often.

There's a label on page that indicates made in Germany. I noticed some things like the ultra drivers don't have that tag, they instead say "Built to last". Not sure what CoO that points to though.

They have a large production facility in Vietnam, most of their pliers are made there as well as some wrenches

Thanks for the heads up. Thats a crazy savings. I order a bit ratchet, stubby 1/4 bit driver, and magnetic nut drivers. $52 after savings.

Did you guys get order confirmation emails or even a # when completing the order?

My browser seemed to act up and didn't 100% place the order but I did get a charge on my credit card. No confirmation email though just an email for the newsletter

So I'm guessing this one is made in Vietnam? Doesn't say the same as your sticker.

https://www.wihatools.com/softgrip-pliers-and-cutters-3-piece-set

I guess I've gotten to a point in my tool collecting that I didn't see anything I really needed as I don't need Vietnam made stuff and the German made stuff I just wouldn't use instead of the US made tools I have.

If the pliers were German made, I'd get those, but I don't care to add Vietnamese made tools. I'll add US made or German made when I find them.

I think it's a pretty safe bet assuming most of the budget lines without the made in Germany tag are imports. Especially since some, not all, of the individual product pages for those soft grip pliers state Made by Wiha Vietnam.

You can log in the Wiha website and check your account for the order status.

Did you check the spam folder to see if the emails were mistakenly filtered?

When I was looking all the pliers that I came across with the basic red vinyl handles (my preference) were made in Vietnam. I went ahead and purchased them as imports are good enough for my particular use. Disappointing though.

The Red/yellow pliers are Swiss made i think

Some of them very well may be, but I'm not a big fan of the comfort grip pliers.

KC Tool has down where each tool was made. These red/yellow are Vietnamese. I didn't check any others.

https://www.kctoolco.com/wiha-32826-6-3-serrated-edge-cable-cutters-insulated/

KC Tool is correct. They are made in Vietnam now. Years ago, there were some Swiss made and you can still find them as "new old stock" on Ebay but the new ones are Vietnam.

Ohh ok well in a way I’m happy I didn’t buy them. At least it makes me feel a little better about showing some restraint

Broke down and bought a set of screwdrivers and nut drivers. I got a precision set with some Williams screwdrivers and really like the handles on these.

Thanks OP for the lead!!

Oh boy. $100 I probably didn't need to spend during the lockdown but it would have been $200 otherwise. Thanks for the heads-up OP. I really do love Wiha drivers(Picofinish precision and extra heavy duty). This purchase was tweezers though. Definitely the most expensive tweezers I've ever owned.

I just did the exact same as you:) I bought these for PCB rework and hope they are worth it vs. the $15 sets commonly available.

i got a bunch of stuff.

i've been eyeing both the wiha softfinish and pbswiss swissgrip screwdrivers (the metal striking cap variants) for a while. before now, i couldn't decide what to get. the swissgrips are just so ****, and they're probably overall a bit higher quality. however, the softfinish grips are a bit larger, and maybe you get more grip/torque for that reason. anyway, i grabbed the 10 piece set of softfinish extra heavy duty screwdrivers.
anyone have both wanna chime in and give me some buyer's remorse? lol

You'll have to do a review of the hat and t-shirt with comparison to Snap-On and other brands. ;)

The Centrofix is great. It holds bits securely without the wobble that's a problem with similar holders from other brands.

I have the Wiha Softfinish and PB Swiss SwissGrip but I don't have the ones with the striking cap. They're both good. You're right that the handles are larger on the Wiha. They're very comfortable. I wish the PB Swiss handles were a little larger but you get used to it. The santoprene used for the SwissGrip does feel a bit nicer. The tips of the Wiha drivers are blasted for grip and hard chromed. The PB Swiss tips are oxidized and will be worn to bare metal with use. I do like the fit of the slotted PB Swiss "parallel tips" --they fit American fasteners very well. The Wiha slotted tips are a bit on the thick side and wedge into the fastener. The Wiha torx, hex, and phillips have tips that are a good fit.

Here's a comparison photo of PB Swiss, Klein and Wiha driving a common countersunk screw. The PB Swiss 6.5 mm fills the slot perfectly. The Klein 1/4" also is an excellent fit but the corners do stick out because of the shape of the countersunk screw. The Wiha 5.5 just wedges in at the very tip and doesn't fill the slot. The Wiha 6.5 (not shown) doesn't fit at all. All these screwdrivers are good screwdrivers but they don't all fit the same. Standard screw sizes have a range so having lots of choices is a good thing.

attachment.php

Mine don't have a striking cap. I have Vessel Japan (branded Craftsman) screwdrivers with a striking cap. The Wiha striking cap screwdrivers should be very strong. I'm not sure how I feel about striking PB Swiss slotted screwdrivers since the tips are machined down to a "parallel tip". It works great for a precise fit but it seems like it would reduce the strength. It's not a problem for regular use but I'm not sure about striking.

Well the sale sucked some money out of me.

1. Magnetizer / demagnetizer
2. 3 piece classic grip wire strippers and plier set
3. two of the empty rolling tool cases

Ultra driver (26-in-1) handles are Polish. Bits presumably Vietnamese.

do you have the 'master set' (50 pc)? i'm wondering if it fits in two of those tool rolls. i'm using non-wiha rolls for my set which i'll post about soon.

You'll have to do a review of the hat and t-shirt with comparison to Snap-On and other brands. ;)

i don't have any other tool brand clothing, but i'm happy to take pics of the wiha swag. lol

The Centrofix is great. It holds bits securely without the wobble that's a problem with similar holders from other brands.

i know people rave about the softfinish driver handle with centrofix, but i'm wondering how the bit holder is (https://www.kctoolco.com/wiha-71480-centrofix-1-4-quick-release-bit-holder/)

i've got a rapidaptor bit holder i like. should've grabbed the centrofix equivalent just for kicks.

haha, i've read several of your high quality posts about them (including this one), and that's part of why i want those damn swissgrips so bad. thanks for taking those pics.

i very rarely strike screwdrivers anyways, but i just enjoy the added beefiness of the heavy duty variants with caps.
