I'm in the market for a set of extra long high quality metric hex and torx bit sockets, preferably 1/4" drive.

These are at the top of my list:

Does anyone have any experience with them? Also open to other suggestions.

Thanks!

No experience with that set. Wiha generally makes good quality stuff, but for anything hex I lean more towards Wera because of their patented Hex-plus.

I agree about Wera but I don’t think they have anything in the 6” length variety.

Unless something has changed, there is nothing Wiha about that set other than the packaging. AFAIK, they don't make long bits like that, and the sockets are Taiwan made and not stamped with what size the bit is, maybe just 1/4 for the bit. Not saying it's junk, but I sent mine back years ago because of this, mainly that the bits weren't Wiha. In my example, it was Wiha USA buying random parts and putting sets together with the Wiha name on the packaging.

Edit: I would look at Tekton or Capri for this

I would also recommend to look for something else. There's better (and probably cheaper) Taiwan made stuff out there. If you are from the US you could check out Tekton as Steve recommended or go for something like Toptul GAAD1202, not sure what sizes you need.

My go-to is a set of 6” bits. Depending on use, ill mate them with an impact driver, bit ratchet, locking handle, tee, or adaptors to make them bit sockets for use with square drive tools.

I've got the Wiha long metric hex bits, that I bought as a set a few years ago. I could be wrong, but I think the socket portion was made in Taiwan, and the bits were USA-made.

Frankly I haven't used them that much, but they seem OK. OK but not great. I probably wouldn't repeat the purchase. One thing that I noticed was that the bits were fairly rusty right out of the package. They looked black, sure, but when I wiped them down with paste wax (as I often do to new tools), the rag ended up looking quite rusty. It's my impression that the black oxide finish is very thin on these.
