Hi everybody!

I purchased a Wiha deadblow hammer (5lb) for some landscaping work. It turns out that the yellow face is too hard for the pavers and is chipping them when I give a good whack. I’m gonna get a 12lb trusty cook to supplement my collection and that should take care of heavy blows, but I have to order that from the stars and it will probably take two weeks and I’m in the middle of my project.

Anyways, I don’t see a softer face on the wiha website, so I’m wondering if anyone knows some other soft replacement face I can use.

As always,
Thanks so much.
Ivan.

I want to do a retaining wall so I figured I’d need something with more weight behind it. I used a 4lb Armstrong deadblow for pavers and no damage at all.

That Proto and the Armstrong are the same hammer. They do work great for pavers.

Ah yes I forgot there were Armstrong's too. I think they made for Craftsman, and I think Gedore. They are all rebadged Nuplas. Does yours have the ribbed grip? I love it. I have a Nupla branded 2 lb dead blow and a 3 lb. drilling hammer as well. Made in Sun Valley, California.

I’ve been doing some investigating and I believe Halder makes this hammer. From my research, it seems that only hard inserts are made for this model. I’m wondering if the inserts from another model will fit.

Next step - Need to find a place that carries Halder.

beautiful. It’s almost 6.5lbs.

I’m trying to find someone that ships to Canada.
