Wiha or Wera bit holder

Don't have either, but I like the Wiha, looks good, doesn't mean it will function. But they are both top tool names, I am sure they both function properly.

The Wera was recommended to me by a retailer that sold both. He said he got the better feedback on the Wera. So I got the Wera and love it, it's in almost daily use. I have not tried the Wiha so can't compare.

I particularly like how it allows one-hand bit changes, and if it accidentally clicks forward into lock position while empty, you can still stick in a bit. You don't have to unlock it to insert a bit.

Wera also has a model for a hammer drill that's beefier.

I have the wiha it holds the bit by magnet as well as detent a decent unit but not for heavy duty use

OK, Jay, I am going to help you out as I have both. Get the Wera. I played with both and the Wera is far superior. The Wiha is not anything special and it requires more effort. This is one Wiha product that is just so so.

They aren't for the same job. The Wiha is an assembly line tool, with very firm bit holding and a fairly stiff action, their equivalent to the Wera is the 7148 C.

The Wera is a better tool for workshop use.

I have the Wiha ClickFix on a handle. It's quick and easy to use. The handle also stores 6 bits.

I have both. I like the Wera for short (25mm - 1 inch) bits. The Wiha for longer bits. If I had to choose on one or the other, it would be the Wera. However, I prefer Wiha bits by a large margin. Wiha Dura Bits and frickin' amazing.

So, it depends on what you intend to use with it.

I intend to install this tool at the key-less chuck of a cordless drill driver.

By the way will this holder work with Hex shank drill bits too?

Just an update for anyone interested in this topic.

The Wera bitholder is great, but it has more lateral play than the Wiha Centrofix or the Wiha RapidFix, leading to more runout.

The red Wiha Clickfix is for ONLY 1" bits, but works great. The dark grey Wiha Centrofix is a new replacement for the blue-colored Wiha RapidFix, which would hold only the longer powerbits; the new one will hold BOTH powerbits and 1" insert bits. The Wiha ClickFix doesn't work with all insert bits, however; for it to lock, the notch on the bit has to be deep enough (my Euro and most US bits work fine, but many Asian bits don't have a deep enough notch to lock in).

I just received a pair of the new CentroFix for my cordless drill/drivers, but I have been using the older Wera holder (with the knurled sleeve), the two new Wera holders (the green banded sleeves), and the two older Wiha holders. The Wiha holders will not let any powerbit wobble when it's locked in.
