Wiha or Wera

My Torx drivers are kind of a mismatched mangled lot, and I'm going to take a swing at some German tools and see how they fare. I haven't really read bad things about any of the German brands, but I'm looking at two different sized sets from two different manufacturers:

Wiha Soft-Grip, T5,T6,T7,T8,T9,T10,T15,T20,T25,T27,T30,T40 all for $42.29

and

Wera Kraftform-Plus, T10,T15,T20,T25,T30,T40 all for $32

Anyone have any experience with either company's Torx products? The Wera set is much smaller but seems to generally get good reviews. The Wiha is larger and better priced.

I've got a larger set of just the Wera Kraftform Torx drivers, contains T6,T7,T8,T9,T10,T15,T20,T25,T27,T30,T40, and T45.

From what I've used them for, they're wonderful and I haven't seen much wear at all. Then again, I am not a pro and don't use them in a pro environment, but they do get their use.

EDIT: Mine are not the laser-etched Torx drivers, but rather the older style, Kraftform Komfort style.

I have used Wera torx drivers but, not Wiha. The Wera's worked nicely as most of them do.

I did some horsetrading to get some Snap-On Hard Handle TORX drivers but in reality I know I'de be just as happy with the Wera's and are considering flipping a profit on the Snappy's on ebay and buying Wera's..

I Like the tips on the Wera and the handles on the Wiha. The Wiha softfinish grips are the most comfortable drivers I've ever held and Weras have outstanding tips, wish I could combine the two. (Wiha tips aren't bad by any standard though.)

Thanks for the link; I was trying to use some Amazon reward points, but Amazon doesn't have that set, and the Drillspot price is WAY better for the number of pieces so I may just get them there.

Plus whenever I order from them, I usually get it the very next day. Their wera stuff it seems usually ships out of the Dallas area from a grainger facility. At least that has been my experience w/ordering Wera from Drillspot

Both are good. Even if Wera is not made in Germany but in Czech Rep you can consider it as a top notch brand. Why don't you buy 6 Wera and 6 Wiha !

I have Wera tools from both the Czech Republic and Germany. I think it's hit or miss on what you get.

Both are very good. I have had the W. German Wiha for probably 20 years and I consider them the best of their kind. I prefer the Wiha grips. I have never had anything bad Wiha. Willie Hahn makes good stuff.

My personal preference after using both is Wera for phillips and slotted and wiha for Torx. We use wiha torx bits and screw drivers at the manufacturing plant I am working at now and they are way old and used hundreds of times a day and they are still going strong. I have yet to see one break or get rounded. Yesterday I used a Cleco air screw driver and a Wiha Torx 6 bit (very tiny) and put in 25 screws into over 200 housing and never stripped one out, and it wasnt even a new bit. That 5000 screws over 10 hours to 6 inch pounds of torque each without a failure, granted the kid next to me seemed to strip out every 12th scew but he didnt understand that to get the right torque and avoid stripping screws were not designed to enter a pre drilled hole at a 45 degree angle

That's interesting. I don't doubt that they're still good quality though. I have a set of South African Weras and find that my #2 Philips is better than my PB Swiss one.
