Just picked up a pair of 7" diag cutters (32950). I'm noticing a bit of lateral slop in the pivot; increases as jaws close. I can feel it in the handles, a see a bit of movement in the jaws at full closure.

It's not normal; there should be absolutely no slop. Despite all the automation that goes on with the various manufacturing stages, I'd surely hope that each plier is checked by a human being. Yours clearly didn't get checked.
