Anyone ever used Wiha pliers? Are they any good, like comparable to Knipex/NWS? Wouldn't surprise me if Wiha pliers were made by knipex though. If they are, even better!

I got these round-nose pliers about a year ago at Amazon but now many of them are made in Viet Nam.

All of my insulated Wiha are swiss made as well.

Edit: sorry, my 8" high leverage diagonal cutters are made in Germany, the others are Swiss made. 9" linesman, 8" bent nose, 8" needle nose.

What about the red and black one's? Not the "insulated" for electrical (red/yellow) pliers.

Wiha seems to have a Euro-Swiss made line at premium prices and a value line made in Vietnam.

All the brushed finished one, aka "industrial finish" are made in VN I believe.

Wiha's other products are good, but for pliers, they cannot compare with Knipex/NWS. I used wiha pliers before.

I have to disagree, the wiha pliers are as good as the nws and knipex. Especially their vde tools. They have excellent chrome and finish. And their made in Germany basic line are very food. I have used knipex, and their plier wrench are great, but their cobra and alligators are the same quality as NWS and Wiha. It is more personal preference which brand is better. But imho vde that is where wiha shine with their swiss and german made products.

But in the US you find some of their vietnam made basic line and regular cushion handle. But the factory is own and operated by wiha. With German management to maintain QC. Like the proto factory in taiwan.

I've got a set of linemans made in SROV (Czech). Only reason I got it is because I needed them and I was already placing an order with Wiha (and price seemed good). No disappointments so far. I have 4 individual or sets of Wiha tools and all are top notch in my book.

I had some Wiha pliers (long nose, combi). Got them half price on a promotion. I found them ok but quite soft. Didn't last. When they'd had it I cut through the end of one of the tips of long nose pliers with the cutter on the other pliers. Went straight through albeit with a fair amount of effort. Best pliers imo are VBW, Klein (USA made) and some of the Japanese stuff like Keiba.

Wiha has two lines a made in Vietnam and a made in Switzerland one. I've fondled the made in Swiss ones when I was over there pre-covid for a work trip and really wish I would have picked them up. They are nicer than my Knipex versions. The polishing / chrome on the Swiss made ones are on par with my Nepros stuff.

I do own a full set of their criclip pliers. Those are made in Vietnam and are very good quality... on par with Knipex, but unlike Knipex they have special notched tips to keep the rings from flying.IMG_2206.jpeg
