Must have grabbed the last set. Said 2 in stock when I clicked the link. By the time I entered payment info it said quantity unavailable. Dropped to 1 and it went through.

Damnit I needed a new set of screwdrivers

Yeah, me too, I can always use more screwdrivers. I have tools in 4 spots, and they keep walking or left at relative's houses.

My main nice set is Vaco USA. I think I still have all 8 of them. Then I have some USA CM, vintage Stanley 100. My portable boxes have Pittsburgh Pro sets.

the early bird catches the worm! Would've been nice to try Wiha.

Thanks for posting this! I grabbed a set of screwdrivers and some nippers this morning. I've been wanting to branch out from the usual brands.

Got a weird e-mail this morning.

"Hello, Wiha Tools is out of stock on item 46990. We will be replacing your purchase with the Wiha Softfinish 7pc Slotted/Phillips (Item 46990). "

I got the same thing. Is this an upgrade or what?

Ah, that makes sense. Looks like the same price that the black and grey ones were originally. I prefer the look of the ones we ordered, but oh well.

I received the same e-mails as well and probably would have preferred the original ones. Still in all a good deal for the price.

For my own curiosity: is anyone on the board receiving the originals?

I also received a similar message that my 45925 is replaced with 45056. I guess they didn't have enough of the discontinued stock and are replacing with current stuff. Still a great deal with a like replacement, possibly an upgrade.

I can't even complain. Been through the "out of stock" rigmarole too many times where companies just cancel your order and refund your money. Good on wiha for providing an equivalent replacement

Oh
I also got the email, but I'm not complaining. Still a good price for a Wiha set. Looking forward to trying these out :).

I was excited for these. But I'm not mad, just disappointed. Still an amazing deal!

I wonder if they were discontinued due to lack of sales or poor reviews. Now I'll never know, haha.

Never had or used Wihas so this should be a treat either way!

I'm also a tad disappointed. I bought these specifically for the anti cam out feature.

I appreciate their willingness to substitute another set, but now I'll be stuck with yet another set or ordinary screwdrivers which I don't really need.

Same. It kinda feels like a downgrade looking at the handles on the substitute when you consider that my hands are constantly covered in grease. This will probably be a set that I keep in the house just to have handy and look pretty. At least I'll have one clean set of screwdrivers this way haha.

I got my screwdrivers a few days ago (perks of being ~30/40 mins from their warehouse I guess) and got the ones originally discounted. Hopefully some others end up with this set, its pretty nice, but I'm sure Wiha makes great drivers so even that other set should be sweet.

In regards to the grey ACO ones, I really really like the handles. I have small hands and have been using Gearwrench screwdrivers at work that I really like due to size, these are similar and feel great in the hand. Can't say how well the anti cam out thing works as I haven't used them on anything but they might find their way into my work box.

Brought my other screwdrivers in to work so I could compare...I'm not even a screwdriver guy but now have 5 sets because they go on sale so often. Here's a few pics. Gearwrench / Carlyle have nothing on the open ends and appear to be the same OEM, Tekton and craftsman have horizontal hashes, and then Wiha's anti cam out end. My favorites are a tie between the GW/Wiha simply due to handle size, Tekton are my least favorite because of the shape, its a no go for me. Only ones that have seen extensive use are the Gearwench and Craftsman ones, so take that as you will. Oh, and the Wiha seem magnetic from the factory. Or else I stuck them by a magnet, but dont think so lol
