I came across this and thought it was interesting, especially the statements by Mr Hahn himself. I think this shows a major difference between German and North American business philosophy.

I've got Wiha Micro Finish and 3K screwdriver sets. Both are excellent with great tips and are very comfortable.

Pretty interesting! They're definitely proud of their product. I have a set of Wiha micro finish heavy duty screwdrivers and they're the best damn screwdrivers I've ever used. Solid screwdrivers and great tips. The micro finish really does help when your hands are oily and sweaty

+1 on the oily and sweaty bit. That's why I bought the Micro Finish set and they really do function as advertised.

I beat one up when drywalling my garage, used it to sink drywall screws that weren't properly seated when I was mudding and taping. Poor screwdriver is now covered with taping compound that I can't get off but it still has a grippy finish.

I wish more North American companies would adopt the more German philosophy of keeping companies private and thinking long term. If you hope to have control of your company transferred to your grandkids some day you're going to make very different decisions that if what matters most is the stock price this quarter so you can maximize your stock option value.

Like Beach toolboxes: 200 employees in the 1980's until the elderly owner sold out to Stanley, which promptly shut down the factory. If Mr Beach could have transferred ownership to a family member it may have continued on.

I tried Craftsman, Craftsman Professional, Snap-On, Wera, Felo, Wiha and yes, even Stanley, before settling on Wiha for about 90 percent of my screwdriver and microtool arsenal. I have absolutely no regrets with that decision. My old screwdrivers; mostly Craftsman and Craftsman Pro hardly get used at all anymore.
