If they're made in India, no wonder they're clearancing them out.

I thought Wiha wrenches were made by Heyco.

Isn't India steel softer than China steel ?

I have the German version from Amazon.
KC Tool also sells the German version so price comparison is not applicable.

If it was the German ones, I'd be all over it. But I remember when Gedore outsourced to India, and produced some of the worst tools in their history. Cant imagine its much different for Wiha.

Maybe if they discount it by 50% more, I'd pick up a roll for vehicle emergencies, but those are gonna be junk, and probably a pain to warranty within the USA too if they deform/break.

Thanks Upgrading. They are using the same part number so I wonder if they just swapped production to India.

Your right Pureleaf, hard to trust they would keep the standards up.

I had the German Wiha Wrenches made by Heyco and they were just ok. Many Cheaper options to choose from. I would say that fully polished Stanley or Bostitch wrench sets are as nice as Wiha wrenches. Wiha Screwdrivers are awesome.

Could be.

They are so into Vietnam for their pliers now.

Since wrenches aren't their main thing maybe they think they can get away with it.

I know the website says India, but just as 100% confirmation. I emailed and asked. Heres the reply:

Jim,

The inch and metric soft coated wrenches are now made in India. Set item numbers 50087 and 50089.

Thank you,

Tracy

I really like the older Heyco wrenches that Wiha sold. I've owned a few sets of them over the years and have always thought they were really nice. The combo wrenches have pretty thin open ends, they're nice and lightweight, and they're strong. My only criticism of them is that they are pretty short, especially in the larger sizes. Now that the non-screwdriver stuff from Wiha doesn't come from Germany, at least to me, it isn't really worth the prices that they're asking. I'd spend my money somewhere else. I still like their screwdrivers though, at least the stuff that I've used.

I made the mistake of picking up an SAE set from Wiha that was made in India (not their main line of wrenches, these were 'contractor grade')-- I couldn't give them away fast enough. Give me a PRC set made for Harbor Freight any day.

Rule no. 1 when buying tools...always look at the country of manufacture. I almost bought these thinking they were made by Willie Hahn in Germany, but they are ************* wrenches made in India...just like the ones carried by HF. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Hello all -

KC Tool has limited inventory of the Made in Germany SoftGrip version still available.

We will not be carrying the Made in India SoftGrip version.

Wiha (USA) will still offer rebranded Heyco wrenches that are made in Germany.

Well, I did order both sets and sent them back. Two of the wrenches I opened(didn't make it all the way through one set) looked unusable on the boxed end. Flakes of chrome were coming off the wrenches. Cost me shipping but no way I felt good even giving them to somebody. Sorry I put this up.
