Since he's clearly operating a for-profit business, did he charge you state, federal and local taxes on the sale? ...remember, everyone needs to pay their "fair share".
Before agreeing to buy from him, did you verify that he was paying his employees a "living wage" well in excess of the minimum wage? Does he guarantee them a 40 hour work week and offer full medical and dental benefits? I know these issues are important to him, so they should be important to you, too.
