This is an optical level you set up on a tripod and look at the crosshairs like a rifle scope. I lent it out and now find that it will only focus on 8 feet away and closer as you turn the zoom knob back and forth. There is evidence it has been dropped on the ground.
It looks like you look through a lens at the eyepiece end. Next is a prism where the crosshairs are located. Then there is a tube with lenses inside. There is a lens on a carriage that scrolls in and out to change the zoom power.
I took it apart best I could and couldn't find anything broken or dislodged. The zoom carriage goes full range of motion. The image is clear. Where did my zoom go?
