Wildfire Burned Leafsprings- Knife Maker Item?

Sifting through some ash piles outside and found these.

^ Knife-makers will drive long distances to pick up old used rusty files and elk antlers. Not sure about leaf springs, but you could give it a shot. Craigslist "free" ad. Just toss 'em out on the curb and somebody will come and grab them.

Leaf springs should be something like 1090 steel, so yes, good for knives.

Excellent steel! Rings like a bell and holds an edge without being brittle.

Having those leaf-springs pre-annealed would save a step or two!

I saved mine from my old Camaro. Making the froe is on my to do list. Will need to find someone to take the arch out of them, unless I want curved wood.

Xcel Energy said that "its facilities appear to have been involved in an ignition of the Smokehouse Creek Fire," the largest-ever wildfire in Texas that's burned nearly 1.1 million acres.
