Hi all, I acquired a post drill this weekend. It’s a Wiley & Russell Green River Model 472 Drilling Machine. It is in excellent condition for its age. So far, I think the only thing missing is the crank handle. It was converted to motor drive with a pulley clamped to where the crank goes, which fed via belt to a single speed differential gearbox and thence to a half horsepower motor. Here’s some photos:

Information on these critters is sparse. There’s photos of a 470 and a 471 on the net, but nothing on this model, and little or no catalog or ad information on the Green River series. There is a Wiley & Russell catalog set listed at the library of the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Does anyone in GJ land have any such catalogs or info they have found? Otherwise, time to call in your friendly neighborhood librarian
Thanks
