I have some old hardware that is nickel-plated steel. Where the nickel is worn, the steel has rusted. I'd like to remove the rust and preserve the nickel. Paying for new nickel plating on the hardware is not financially viable right now.

My electrolysis bath is a typical rust removal setup. Water and washing soda. No acid or harsh chemicals. Will this setup remove the nickel plating? Any experts or experienced electrolysis guys know the answer? Thanks

Electrolysis will remove ANY and ALL plating. You should not attempt electrolysis on any plated item unless you have access to hazardous waste disposal. It may not be as bad with nickel as it is with chrome but it is still a heavy metal.
