will ants ruin my floor?

I just washed and acid-etched my garage floor. I will prime it then apply solvent-based tan-colored epoxy.

I see a couple trails of ants in the garage as well as lots of individual ants randomly crawling around. I'm in Calif, so our ants are pretty small. Should I be concerned about their presence? Any way to get rid of them without re-contaminating the floor?

Use a product called "Grants Kills Ants" It's a granular bait. spread it around the outside parameter of the garage and all your ants will be gone in a few days. Try to keep the bait dry. It's available in California, or at least it was last year when I lived there.

I ended up ignoring the ants. I applied primer, epoxy and clearcoat on top of them :D. After you apply the vinyl specks, you can't see any ants that are stuck in the clearcoat because they blend in. This is another good reason to use specks

That is an Awesome answer!

Just wait until the new floor is dry. Man, those ants will throw one wild part and invite the whole neighborhood.

Well, aren't you too??

I have those piss ants all over my building. Irritating. I've sprayed the perimeter and ground a couple of times to little impact. The Mesquite trees seem to attract them. I'm more worried about the sap dripping off a couple of joists. Can't wait to try and get that off.
