Will etching mess up my driveway?

I've been reading my brains out on the flooring forum here and I'm getting close to making a purchase. The home that I am buying has a tinted concrete driveway (light tan). I'm worried about putting down any of the etching liquids or acid in the garage and it messing up the driveway when I rinse it off. I was wondering if I just rented a diamond grinder and passed on the etching process. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

IMO you would be better off renting the diamond grinder. Most people don't etch properly, don't neutralize the acid properly, don't rinse properly, etc. On top of that flooding your floor with water shortly before coating it just seems bizarre to me.

Diamond Grinding is the preferred method of prepping concrete. Acid is acceptable and if you choose to go thast route, a nice thick line of baking soda just before the driveway will neutralize the acid on contact.
